When excessive rains come…. Some crops don’t survive. This is the case for our cherry tomatoes. Maggi was able to glean from the dying vines for our last German Village CSA of the summer.

A beautiful Hackberry Emperor butterfly stayed for awhile on my hand while running tractor today. The hackberry is its sole host plant. So lovely.

Citizen Science: The first Monday of every month, Susan Wasmund leads a bird count across campus so that we can capture a baseline and track how land stewardship may be impacting native bird populations across time. Thank you, Mark, Chris, Bevan and Maggie for organizing pipe that will be used to build two additional hoop houses at Seminary Hill Farm. These houses will increase our capacity to grow food for our dining hall and food insecure communities during the winter months.

A huge thank you to the team of twenty IGS Energy volunteers who supported us during IGS Energy's annual Day of Service last week.

Your service enabled us to remove approximately 400 lbs of invasive garlic mustard from our forests and to plant hundreds of vegetable seedlings in our Community Greens Field.

We could not have imagined doing so much in one day without you. Thank you!
