Four-Point Approach
The Main Street Four-Point Approach™ is a comprehensive strategy that is tailored to meet local needs and opportunities. It encompasses work in four distinct areas, which are represented in our committees -- Design, Business Enhancement, Promotion, and Organization. Focusing on these four areas helps to create a balanced downtown and combine to address all of the commercial dis

trict's needs. This philosophy and the Eight Guiding Principles behind it make this method an effective tool for community-based, grassroots revitalization efforts. The Main Street approach has been successful in communities of all sizes, both rural and urban.Described below are the four points of the Main Street approach, which work together to build a sustainable and complete community revitalization effort. gets everyone working toward the same goal and assembling the appropriate human and financial resources to implement a Main Street revitalization program. By marketing a district's unique characteristics to residents, investors, business owners, and visitors, an effective promotional strategy forges a positive image through advertising, retail promotional activity, special events, and marketing campaigns carried out by local volunteers. These activities improve consumer and investor confidence in the district and encourage commercial activity and investment in the area. means getting Main Street into top physical shape. Capitalizing on its best assets, such as historic buildings and pedestrian-oriented streets, is just part of it. An inviting atmosphere, created through attractive window displays, parking areas, building improvements, street furniture, signs, sidewalks, street lights, and landscaping, conveys a positive visual message about the commercial district and what it has to offer. Design activities also include instilling good maintenance practices in the commercial district, enhancing the physical appearance of the commercial district by rehabilitating historic buildings, encouraging appropriate new construction, developing sensitive design management systems, and long-term planning. strengthens a community's existing economic assets while expanding and diversifying its economic base. The Main Street program helps sharpen the competitiveness of existing business owners and recruits compatible new businesses and new economic uses to build a commercial district that responds to today's consumer needs. Converting unused or underused commercial space into economically productive property also helps boost the district.

A note from our Executive Director, Courtney Graf --

And just like that, another Summer on Winter Concert Series is in the books!

I want to take a moment to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make this summer possible.

From every donation through our Cash Out Venmo days, to raffle tickets and 50/50s, to everyone who showed up, bought dinner, grabbed a DORA, and enjoyed the concerts. Every single dollar and every bit of support made a difference.

And a very special thank you to our community partners who stepped up in a BIG way to support Summer on Winter. Your sponsorships, donations and belief in what we're doing helped make these free concerts possible for our community.

Columbus State Delaware Campus, Performance Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Delaware, Marysville Motorsports, Raising Cane's, TTM Mechanical, Bun's Restaurant and Bar, Destination Delaware County Ohio, Rosebud’s, North Orange Family Dentistry, Grodhaus Landscape Design Co., Newman Roofing, LLC, Bandit’s Bar, AudioNova, Emergency Plumbing Heating & Air, Cap City Staging, Buckeye Power Sales, JREP and HQ!

It takes an entire community to make something like this happen, and I am so grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up, support local and believe in Downtown Delaware.

Because of YOU, we were able to bring free live music to Downtown Delaware this summer. And even more exciting? Your support has already helped us secure the return of Summer on Winter next year!

We’ve got next summer started, but if you loved Summer on Winter and want to help us grow the series, please consider supporting Main Street Delaware. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working year-round to create the events and experiences you love in Downtown Delaware from First Fridays and the Farmers' Market to Home for the Holidays, and so much more.

Every dollar helps us continue bringing these experiences to our community and helps us bring even more to Downtown Delaware.
