An endowed scholarship can change the course of a student’s life.✨

Meet Matthew Higgins ʼ27, an English, Spanish, and pre-law triple major with a minor in politics & government, who also holds leadership positions in Chi Phi and Campus Programming Board. Thanks to The Thomas P. Simons ʼ88 and Lorraine McCann Simons ʼ90 Endowed Scholarship, Matthew can discover his place in the world.🌎

“Being at OWU has truly changed my life. I have had the opportunity to study in London for a week. I have gone to Washington, D.C. for a fraternity national congress. I have gotten a job working in the Ohio Statehouse during the busiest part of the year. I have revolutionized my future outlook, and all of it is because I came to OWU. Ohio Wesleyan has earned its fifth Choose Ohio First grant, bringing $651K+ in scholarship support to Ohio students pursuing STEM degrees.
Here’s what that investment is making possible:
🎓 100% graduation rate for OWU’s first cohort
📍 Nearly 75% stayed in Ohio to launch their careers
🔍 More than 25% continued into Ohio graduate programs
Along with scholarship support, Choose Ohio First students gain internship, research, and career opportunities that prepare them for what comes next.
