Meet your new featured athlete!!! Julieann Ash!!
At 70 years old, Julieann Ashe was fighting her way back from a fracture where her right rotator cuff attaches. Recovery was slow, painful, and uncertain — until a door opened.
Thanks to Tom Doyle, retired Ohio State track and field coach, Julieann was introduced to the incredible community at Worthington Metro Fitness and Next Generation Powerlifting. They taught her proper technique, supported her through every setback, and celebrated every milestone — including an Ohio State squat record and a first‑place finish at the 2025 Ohio State Championship in her age and weight class.
They didn’t see her age.
They saw her potential.
What makes powerlifting so special isn’t just the competition — it’s the people. The Beginner Brawls, the women’s meets, and the judges at every event Julieann has attended reflect a culture of encouragement, respect, and inclusion. Everyone is welcomed, supported, and pushed to become their best.
Julieann turns 75 this September, and she’s not slowing down. She’s already preparing for Midwest Regionals and the Ohio State Meet this fall.
She is proud to be part of the USAPL Powerlifting family — and we are proud to have her.
