Today, we celebrate the people who show up.

To the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, coaches, volunteers, and mentors who encourage, support, cheer from the sidelines, offer rides, lend a hand, and believe in our athletes every step of the way - thank you.

Family isn't always defined the same way for everyone, but the impact of having someone in your corner is universal. We are grateful for all those who help our athletes grow in confidence, pursue their goals, and know they belong.

Happy Father's Day to all the father figures and role models who make our Special Olympics community stronger.

Earlier this year, one of our athletes, Lydia Fowler, set out to raise money for our Special Olympics basketball team. Lydia is one of the most hard working, determined, and amazing humans we know! She presented a check for the money raised at our end of season party and we’re so proud of her.

What a night! Last night, we honored our spring season athletes and coaches for our end of season party. Pizza, bowling, ice cream, and a whole lot of friendship and celebration made for an amazing event. Thank you to our athletes, coaches, volunteers, families, and providers for being a part of the Racers team ❤️

Thank you to Penn Lanes for their generosity and hosting our group. It was so much fun and we can’t wait to do it again!

There’s still time to sign up for summer sports and join the Racers for a great time! Golf and bowling rosters are full but we need more softball and soccer athletes. Whatever your skill level, even if you’ve never played before, our coaches can work with you and help you learn. Plus, it’s a great time!

Lydia Fowler is amazing!

June 2026 Passenger Spotlight

For Lydia, Delaware County Transit provides more than transportation—it provides freedom, confidence, and independence.

Lydia has been riding with DCT for approximately five years, first using the service from time to time while she was in school. Over the years, DCT has become a trusted part of her daily life, helping her stay connected to work, appointments, shopping, and social activities throughout the community.

One of her favorite features is the app's call-out notifications, which let her know when her bus is arriving so she can be ready and on time. She also enjoys tracking her ride in real time and seeing exactly where the bus is along its route.

When asked about her experience with DCT, Lydia shared:

"It's really helpful. I like that I don't have to rely on anyone. The drivers are always happy to drive me around, and everybody's pretty nice."

What she enjoys most about riding DCT is getting to know the drivers. She loves hearing about their experiences, learning their life stories, and building relationships with the people who help keep Delaware County moving every day. During our conversation, she gave special shout-outs to Brandon and Andrew, two drivers who have made a positive impression on her through their friendliness and great service.

Outside of riding with DCT, Lydia enjoys staying active through basketball, track and field, working out, and spending time with family and friends.

A special thank you to Lydia for taking the time to share her story with us. It was such a pleasure meeting her and learning more about her accomplishments, interests, and the role DCT plays in her daily life. Stories like Lydia's remind us why accessible, reliable transportation matters.

And Lydia, if you're reading this—you told us you were expecting about 20 questions, so we'll have to come better prepared next time! 😊 Thanks for keeping us on our toes!
