Stratford Ecological Center Educational Farm and Nature Preserve - "Fostering an Appreciation for the Land"
(1)

06/16/2026

On June 1st we welcomed our first group of bright eyed and curious farm campers of the summer! Seeing the kids show up ready for adventure, learning, and fun always reminds us that Stratford is so much more than a small farm where animals and veggies grow. It’s a place where wonder blooms, curiosity is encouraged, appreciation for the natural world deepens, and people discover more about themselves.

The campers, volunteers, and staff work together to care for the animals, tend to the gardens, and nurture the land that provides for us. By the end of each day, everyone involved has learned a little more about themselves, their neighbors, and the land we care for together.

Thank you for being a part of our community, making Stratford possible, and helping us fuel the magic for generations to come. Watch the video to get a small glimpse at the growth that you make possible here at Stratford.

♥️As National Volunteer Week comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the countless ways our volunteers show up for this farm, season after season.

From tapping trees in the cold of winter, to exploring vernal pools in the spring, to summer camps full of laughter, to bringing the harvest to life in the fall, our volunteers are woven into every part of Stratford.

Our volunteers give their time, their energy, and their care for something bigger than themselves. Because of that, thousands of children and families are able to learn, explore, and connect here each year.
There is no part of Stratford that isn’t touched by their impact.

To every volunteer who has spent a morning, a season, or years with us, thank you. You are the reason this community continues to grow.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, we would love to welcome you. Whether you enjoy working with people, being outdoors, or supporting our work behind the scenes, there is a place for you here.

Join the movement and be a part of something meaningful.

Happy National Volunteer Week Day 5 – 🍂Fall🍂

Fall is a season of abundance on the farm, a time to gather, reflect, and celebrate the work of the year.
As the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to change, the farm becomes a place where tradition comes to life.

Visitors roll up their sleeves to press apples into fresh cider, shell corn, and grind it into feed for the chickens who provide us with delicious eggs daily. These experiences bring everything together full circle and connect program participants directly to the food on their table and deepen their appreciation for the natural world.

Our volunteers are at the heart of it all. They guide each activity, share stories, and help visitors understand not just how these processes work, but why they matter. They create welcoming spaces, answer questions, and make sure every guest feels part of something meaningful.

Fall is one of our most vibrant seasons, filled with families, school groups, and community members coming together. Through it all, our volunteers bring patience, energy, and enthusiasm, ensuring every interaction is memorable.

Because of them, the harvest isn’t just about the food, it’s about connection. Connection to the land, to tradition, and to one another.
