Earlier this week, our new members visited Star House to volunteer and learn more about the work they do to support youth experiencing homelessness in Columbus. It was a great opportunity for new members to engage with one of our community partners!

Every foster youth deserves a real bridge to independence at 18. Ohio must move beyond aging youth out of foster care—and start launching them into adulthood with housing, mentorship, education, and hope.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, join the Junior League of Columbus in Bridging the G.A.P. for youth aging out of foster care. To learn more about how to get involved, check out the Fostering Potential video series on YouTube.

Members of the Junior League of Columbus had a great time volunteering at The Kickback last week in support of teens and young adults experiencing homelessness.

Make-A-Day brought together community partners to provide health screenings, hair cuts, education and workforce opportunities, and other resources to youth at Star House. Youth also had an opportunity to play games, listen to music and enjoy fresh burgers from the Make-A-Day food truck.

The Junior League of Columbus was grateful to sponsor the event! ☀️🫶

Over the weekend, President Kristina Ellis represented the Junior League of Columbus in Indianapolis at the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) Annual Conference!

This year was one to remember, as our League won the Fund Development award for this year’s record-breaking Holiday Tour of Homes. Kristina also spoke on a panel with 12 other Presidents on right sizing and the strides we’ve made in growing our membership.

Our League was also recognized for completing the required steps toward AJLI’s new initiative Thrive 125,, where all Leagues will contribute to growing the Association to 125,000 members by 2031.

This was a great time to connect with other leagues and reset for the next year with new ideas and refreshed purpose. Thank you, ❤️

May is Foster Care Awareness Month.

Last school year, over 14,000 children in Ohio were in foster care. When they age out of the system at 18, many find themselves on their own, without the support, resources, and guidance of a stable family or other caring adults. Nearly 1,000 youth face this transition each year in Ohio. The Junior League of Columbus is working to guide, advocate, and provide for local youth navigating this critical time.

Follow along throughout May to learn more.

The Junior League of Columbus is made up of community members who come together to make a meaningful impact. We offer opportunities for community service, networking, and personal growth, benefiting both our members and the communities we serve.
