Happy World Teachers’ Day! 🍎📚

Today we’re celebrating the incredible teachers in our Success by Third Grade partner school districts. Every day, you help central Ohio’s youngest learners build the reading skills, confidence and curiosity that carry them through school and beyond. 💛

We’re proud to stand alongside you, working with community partners to clear the way so every student can show up ready to learn.

Thank you for all you do.

Third graders across Ohio are reading stronger. 📚✨

Proficiency in third grade English language arts climbed to about 63% on the 2025-26 Ohio School Report Card, and our Success by Third Grade partner districts earned higher or steady ratings this year: Columbus City, Groveport Madison, Reynoldsburg, South-Western and Whitehall. ⭐

This is what happens when a whole community shows up for kids.🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Who gets a seat at the table? 🪑

On Tuesday, we teamed up with African American Leadership Academy , Empowering Latinas Leadership Academy , Leadership Columbus and ThriveIN to host a Big Table conversation on multigenerational leadership, sponsorship and succession. 🤝

Thank you to our panelists, Mo Wright (AALA), Lillian Morales-Laster (ELLA), Kate Bauer (Leadership Columbus), Chevonne Harris (ThriveIN) and our President and CEO Lisa Courtice, for setting the stage with honest insight on how leaders are seen and trusted. 🎤💡

The conversation continued around the tables as participants and graduates from all five organizations connected and shared ideas for passing the baton to the next generation. 💬

When we lead together, Columbus’ future gets brighter for all of us. Thank you, The Columbus Foundation !

Thank you, Nationwide! 💙

120 volunteers from Nationwide’s Technology team came together to assemble 1,152 hygiene kits for Student Success Stores. These kits will help students across our community, including at Fort Hayes Career Center, show up to class feeling confident and ready to learn.

The team also wrote 168 appreciation cards for the teachers, guidance counselors and support staff at the 17 schools with Student Success Stores. 💌

A big thank-you to Besa for helping make this day happen!

New school, new neighbors and one less thing to worry about. 🎒

Thanks to a partnership with PetSmart’s local distribution center, 50 backpacks are headed to Groveport Madison elementary students and their families, including families who are new to the district.

Our Network Director Aranne Moody coordinated the effort, working closely with Groveport Madison school social workers to get backpacks into the hands of the families who can use them most.

According to school social worker Lakiesha Sweeney, families enrolling in the district, especially those new to the community, have started the year with more confidence because school supplies were already taken care of. That means parents can focus on what matters most: helping their kids settle in and thrive. 💛

This is what Success by Third Grade looks like: schools, businesses and neighbors coming together so every student starts the year ready to learn. 📚

Every child deserves a strong start. 💙

Because our community believes in every young learner, more kids recently walked into their first day of kindergarten ready to thrive.

Through Success by Third Grade, your generosity supports 15 local programs that help children build the words, behaviors and confidence to succeed and it works: more than 93% of kids in YMCA of Central Ohio programs arrive kindergarten-ready. 🎉
