Thanks to the leadership, facilitation and advocacy of Columbus Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) and Capitol South Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation (Capitol South), many new city-changing projects have been completed, with more coming online every day. CDDC and Capitol South are private, non

-profit development corporations with a shared mission to lead city-changing projects in the heart of Ohio’s capital city. CDDC was created in 2002 to implement the Downtown Strategic Plan, while Capitol South was formed in 1974 with the mission of redeveloping the area just south of Capitol Square. The two organizations share a single Board of Directors made up of the following senior business and institutional leaders who have a strong commitment to downtown revitalization. CDDC & Capitol South is now Downtown Columbus, Inc!

The Downtown Columbus, Inc. name and visual identity demonstrate the strong connection between the work we are doing and the place we aim to elevate, Downtown Columbus.

The new identity is representative of our team’s expanded approach to meeting the needs of a modern downtown, and the collaborative work that’s necessary to build a place that is connected and able to be enjoyed by all.

Along with a new visual identity, a refreshed downtowncolumbus.com provides a centralized place for information about our projects, initiatives and all of the happenings Downtown. For future updates on our work in Downtown Columbus, follow the Downtown Columbus page.

For more than 12 years, the Scioto Mile Fountain has been a key part of summer in our community. Now this iconic asset will be receiving a major update, thanks to a partnership between the City of Columbus and CDDC & Capitol South. In addition to updating the functionality, there will be added seating and shaded areas, plus new lighting features to make the Scioto Mile a year-round destination. We can’t wait to splash in Summer 2024!

CDDC & Capitol South Board Chair Mike Coleman summed it up perfectly: "what I'm seeing from this is the general theme that more is better: more residents, more affordable housing, more activities Downtown, 40,000 residents by 2040."

Now the work continues to move Downtown forward. 💪🌆 🏃‍♀️

The Columbus Downtown Commission on Tuesday will consider ideas for the new Downtown Strategic Plan that include a goal for 40,000 residents by 2040.
