Ohio Business Development Center: Serving Microenterprises

Ronda Barber and her partners have recognized that many entrepreneurs do not receive adequate assistance and guidance from professionals in key areas related to the startup and development of a microenterprise. However, there is a need for relevant and effective programming that addresses the needs and wants of microenterprises. In response to this need, the group has launched a new nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide professional assistance and guidance to microenterprises across the state. The Ohio Business Development Center (OBDC) has a network of professionals in the areas of business law, accounting, MBE/WBE/DBE certification, marketing, website development, business financing, crowdfunding, and general business consulting. OBDC develops programming such as webinars, workshops, seminars, and professional consultations. OBDC then partners with community-based organizations that serve as the host, making the programming available to their local constituents.
