AmericanHort was proud to host leaders from the National Citrus Nursery Association (NCNA) in Washington, D.C., for a week of advocacy focused on the regulatory challenges facing citrus nursery growers.
Throughout the visit, NCNA members met with USDA APHIS leadership, congressional offices, House Agriculture Committee staff, and White House officials to discuss plant health regulations, nursery certification programs, and the need for practical, science-based policies that support both plant protection and business certainty.
The group also toured USDA’s Citrus Pathogen Life Collection at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center to learn more about the research and diagnostic tools that support citrus disease management and regulatory decision-making.
In addition, NCNA visited AmericanHort member operations North Creek Nurseries and Star Roses and Plants to see how the Systems Approach to Nursery Certification (SANC) program is being implemented and supporting nursery operations.
Thank you to the NCNA members, federal officials, and industry partners who helped make the visit a success. AmericanHort looks forward to continuing our work together to advance practical solutions for the citrus nursery industry.
