Modern PA Law for Modern Patient Care.

Today marks a significant milestone for the PA profession in Ohio!

The Ohio Association of Physician Assistants is proud to announce the introduction of House Bill 963, sponsored by Representatives Kellie Deeter and Meredith Craig.

HB 963 is designed to modernize Ohio PA practice laws and remove outdated barriers that limit PAs from practicing to a greater extent of their education and training.

This legislation represents years of advocacy, collaboration, and dedicated work by PA leaders and stakeholders across Ohio. It is an important step toward ensuring patients have greater access to high-quality, team-based care while allowing PAs to contribute fully to Ohio’s healthcare workforce.

The introduction of HB 963 is a major achievement, but it is only the beginning. Advancing this legislation will require continued engagement and advocacy from PAs, PA students, employers, and supporters across the state.

Please join us in celebrating this important milestone for Ohio PAs and the patients we serve. This is a moment worth recognizing, and a reminder of what is possible when our profession comes together around a shared vision for the future.

Together, we have an opportunity to shape the future of PA practice in Ohio. OAPA looks forward to working with legislators, healthcare partners, and our members to move HB 963 forward.

🎉 Ohio's voice was strong at the 2026 American Academy of Physician Associates House of Delegates in New Orleans!

Nine Ohio delegates represented our state and helped shape the future of the PA profession through thoughtful discussion, debate, and collaboration with colleagues from across the country.

This year, Ohio submitted seven resolutions focused on:
☑ The role and structure of professional organizations
☑ Recruitment and development of future PAs
☑ Consistent messaging about our professional identity

We are especially proud to congratulate Chief Delegate Josanne Pagel on receiving the AAPA House Outstanding Service Award, a well-deserved recognition of her dedication and leadership.

As OAPA President Clayton Rotuno shared:
"The 2026 AAPA House of Delegates was one of the most organized and productive gatherings of PA leaders I have ever experienced. Ohio's representation and voice was formidable and influential with a strong showing of all 9 delegates. I hope to go back next year."

Thank you to our delegates for representing Ohio PAs with professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to advancing our profession.

Another win for Ohio PAs.

House Bill 377 has officially been signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine and will take effect in 90 days.

This legislation expands the authority of PAs, alongside our APRN colleagues (), in the area of laser hair removal in Ohio.

Previously, only physicians could delegate and supervise laser hair removal procedures.
