Thank you, Senator Jon Husted, for joining your colleagues on the Senate HELP Committee in advancing the ACT for ALS Reauthorization Act.

This bipartisan action moves Congress another step closer to continuing programs that are accelerating ALS research, expanding access to investigational therapies, and strengthening the infrastructure needed to move promising treatments forward.

We appreciate your leadership and urge the full Senate to keep this momentum going before ACT for ALS expires this September.

We are excited and honored to be part of Running Against ALS once again this year. 💙

Race Director Officer Erica Gutierrez originally established this event to support Officer Steve Asch following his ALS diagnosis in 2022. Today, in Steve's memory, the event continues its mission of helping others living with ALS.

The 4th Annual Running Against ALS takes place this Sunday, June 14, at Three Creeks Metro Park in southeast Columbus. Check-in begins at 7:00 a.m., with the walk/run starting at 8:30 a.m.

All proceeds from the event will benefit ALS United Ohio's Grant Program, which helps individuals and families affected by ALS by providing reimbursement for disease-related expenses.

Thank you to everyone who makes this event possible. We look forward to seeing you there!

ALS advocacy is working!

Because advocates across the country continue to speak up, recent House spending bills include several important ALS priorities, including support for ALS research, the National ALS Registry and Biorepository, ACT for ALS, FDA rare neurodegenerative disease programs, and efforts to strengthen ALS care and research for veterans.

These are meaningful steps forward—but they are not the finish line.

As Congress continues work on 2027 funding, we need to keep the momentum going.

Today, on Lou Gehrig Day, we honor the legacy of the baseball legend whose name became forever linked with ALS—and we stand with every person and family facing this disease.

ALS United Ohio proudly hosts Lou Gehrig Day with 3 baseball teams in Ohio—the Dayton Dragons this past Saturday, May 30th, the Cincinnati Reds TONIGHT, and the Columbus Clippers this Friday, June 5th.

More than 80 years later, the ALS community is still fighting for better treatments, stronger research, improved access to care, and policies that reflect the urgency families face every day.

That work depends on action.

Today, we invite you to honor Lou Gehrig’s legacy by contacting your members of Congress through ALS United’s advocacy action alerts page.

As we near the end of May — ALS Awareness Month — we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our pALS (people living with ALS), cALS (caregivers to someone with ALS), families, donors, and volunteers for everything you do throughout the year to support the mission of ALS United Ohio and bring public awareness to ALS.

We are here to care for those diagnosed with ALS, and each of you plays an integral role in helping us continue to provide local, quality services to the ALS community. Thank you for your compassion, dedication, and support!

Take a look at this video and you’ll see that we are not alone. These videos and photos feature ALS United organizations from across the country — including us, ALS United Ohio — all working together to support and advocate for those affected by ALS.
