Connection is where change begins.

For youth navigating one of the most vulnerable and uncertain seasons of their lives, building trust isn’t just important, it’s essential to our mission.

Meeting youth where they are is one of our specialties. It takes patience, consistency, empathy, and a genuine willingness to listen without judgment. Our case managers work to build rapport and create safe, trusting relationships where young people feel comfortable sharing their experiences, challenges, and stories that shape their lives.

And when that trust is built, we see barriers begin to come down.

Together, we can identify what’s standing in their way, navigate those challenges, and create a path forward. A path ne built on trust, connection, and the belief that every young person deserves to be heard, supported, and seen.

Housing isn't just a roof over your head. Housing is a foundation for overall health.

When a young person doesn't know where they'll sleep tonight, it can be difficult to focus on school, work, appointments, relationships, or even their next meal.

Through Street Outreach, The PLACE connects with young people wherever they are and begins building relationships and trust. From there, we can connect youth to resources, housing navigation, and supportive services.

When young people move into stable housing, we begin to see what consistency can create space to focus on goals beyond survival.

Housing alone doesn't solve every challenge—but having a safe and stable place to call home can make addressing those challenges possible.

Safe housing is health. Stability is health.

Getting people into housing is only the beginning, the real work begins when they have a safe and stable home to call their own. 💜

The biggest flex? Helping someone get housed and making sure they don’t have to start all over again. 👏

For many of us, the winding down of summer means the return to regular routines after the break that summer offers so many of us. Those routines may include resuming healthy habits or scheduling recurring appointments for ourselves or our families.

That got us thinking about how being unhoused impacts the health of the youth we serve here at The PLACE. Join us over the next few weeks as we explore the theme of Housing and Health Series.

What are Social Determinants of Health?

Where we live, whether we have enough food, access to healthcare, safe transportation, education, employment, supportive relationships, and a safe place to sleep all shape our health and well-being.

For young people experiencing housing insecurity, these challenges are often deeply connected.

At The PLACE, we respond to youth homelessness by looking at the whole person. Through Street Outreach, our Drop-In Center, supportive housing, resource navigation, and community partnerships, we meet young people where they are and work alongside them toward the stability they identify for themselves.

Over the next several weeks, we're breaking down the connection between youth homelessness and the social determinants of health—and how our community can be part of the solution.

Because housing is health. And every young person deserves a pathway to safe and stable housing.
