My name is Bayisse, and I am a mother of three children. My children's father left me when I was five months pregnant. After I gave birth to my daughter, I went from house to house baking injera, but even though I worked, we had a hard time eating. One day, I had nothing to eat. After I finished baking, I stole two loaves of injera and took it. The depth of my problem had reached this point. I heard that the Birhane Wengel Church was offering help, so I went and registered and entered. Then I took a loan and bought chickens. Then, I baked injera and started selling it. Now I am selling the injera I bake to a hotel because it is very profitable. My goal in the future is to make injera on a large scale.

I am very blessed, and I have changed.

First, I thank God. Second, I thank the people from abroad who helped me without knowing me.

INDIA We are very thankful to have been able to hire a new country director. Also, two of our staff team have been granted five-year visas, opening the door for future visits and vision trips that will be helpful in training, partnership development, and expansion. Please pray for God to continue to open doors for more churches to care for more families.

During the most difficult season of my life, after losing my husband, I connected with the WOG ministry through visits from Pastor Efraín’s church. My husband struggled with addiction and violence, and he left behind deep pain in our family. At that time, I felt completely broken and didn’t know where to begin.

Through the Economic Empowerment program, I joined a cooking workshop. It was there that I discovered a passion I never knew I had: learning new skills, following recipes, and especially making donuts. That small space became a refuge for me, a place where I began to regain hope.

The church also supported me during times of great need, even bringing groceries when we had nothing to eat. That gesture touched my heart deeply. I also received guidance from a WOG psychologist, who helped me navigate a legal issue involving one of my children. Her support gave me clarity and strength during a very difficult time.

I joined the Parenting School as well, and now I attend with my oldest daughter. Together, we’ve learned so much not just about becoming better as a mother and daughter, but also about healing from the past.

Today, I’m proud to say I’ve cooked for events with over 70 people, something I never imagined I could do. I dream of starting my own catering business, and little by little, I’m building it.

I’m deeply grateful to the donors, to the church, and above all, to God. He gives me the strength and wisdom to keep going every day. My journey has been one of healing, growth, and hope, and I know there’s still so much more ahead.

Imagine a world where mothers are forced to give up their children to orphanages because of extreme poverty.

We want to imagine a world where no mother ever has to make that choice.

Family preservation keeps children out of orphanages.

At World Orphans, family and community mean everything to us.

We believe family preservation is about so much more than just protecting children. We strive to equip churches, families, and communities to thrive.

My name is Sukkamma, and I have two young boys. I was heartbroken and helpless when my husband died. I had no steady income and found it extremely difficult to manage household expenses and raise the children alone. I had no steady income and couldn’t work because of some severe health issues, so I had to depend on my brother for shelter and survival. Providing food, daily needs, and especially education for both children has been very difficult.

I deeply want to care for my children and provide them with a good education, yet the financial burden has been overwhelming. I sought financial assistance for my sons’ education, hoping they can continue their studies without interruption and grow into a brighter future.

Our experience with the church has been very encouraging. They have supported us with prayers, guidance, and financial help, especially towards the children’s education. This care has eased our burden and given us hope during our hardest times. The church has not only been a place of worship but also a family that stood beside us in our struggles.

My biggest hope is that my sons will study well and achieve a bright future. I dream of seeing them in good professions—serving society with respect and responsibility. I want them to grow into strong, educated men who can overcome the struggles we are facing today and bring pride to the family.

In Haiti, our social worker, Gerline, has been meeting with church coordinators and facilitating deeper counseling with many of the families. The one-on-one time includes talking and praying through displacement, the fear of what lies ahead, and how to find hope given the hopelessness of their current reality. Please continue to pray for our Haiti staff, churches and families.

“But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.”

My name is Birke. I raised my grandson because his mother died when she gave birth to him and his father is unknown. I was in big trouble because my husband died too. But after I joined this program, the problem went away from my home because they provided us with food and various things, and our lives began to change. After a year, when I was given a loan, I started selling Ethiopian traditional drink, tella, and our lives changed.
I thank you all. May God help the foreigners as they helped us, and may their children be blessed.
