Why are shark populations dropping so rapidly? The core problem sharks face is that they are slow-growing and give birth to only a handful of pups. Due to this specific reproductive strategy, sharks simply cannot keep up with the intense pressures put upon them from commercial fisheries. They cannot reproduce fast enough to replace declining catches. As a result, some species of sharks have been reduced by more than ninety-five percent.
Stand up for these vulnerable species before it is too late.
