After ten years of service at the Cultural Office, Jonathan Toman, Program Manager for Cultural Promotion and Tourism, is stepping into another career opportunity in our community. Jonathan has accepted an exciting position with the City of Colorado Springs at the COS Airport, working in the Communications Department with a focus on internal marketing and community partnerships. (In fact, he'll be overseeing the Art@COS program, which COPPR sponsors!) His final day will be Thursday, October 22.

Jonathan began at COPPR as Peak Radar Manager in 2016 after graduating from UCCS. He has been a pivotal force inside COPPR's growth and impact. We are happy he is moving forward into new ways of contributing to the future of our city! He is talented, dedicated, and will be missed.

Please stop by the COPPR office to thank Jonathan and wish him well on his next adventure! We will have refreshments, stories, and a fun slideshow from the many memories of his time serving our arts community.

Angela Seals, COPPR's Executive Director, wrote an Op-Ed for the The Gazette, published this morning. She makes a strong case for the importance of investing time and participation in local arts.

"This year’s Arts Month theme, “Made for the Moment“, celebrates real art as it happens in real time. Artists begin those moments, but audiences co-create them through their attention, energy, and response. Anyone who has caught their breath during a live song, watched people take pictures with a sculpture downtown, or heard a crowd break out in laughter knows that the people who show up make the moment, too.

I’ve seen that happen again and again across our region. It’s part of why I’ve worked in arts management for 24 years. I’m not alone — most of us work in this industry because we get hooked on the magic that happens in the moment, in real time, as art works in communities." --Angela Seals

Thanks for coming out to help us kick-off Arts Month with an artist mixer and open house on Sunday! We met neighbors and made new creative connections! It was fun to show off the amazing art from the ‘Stronger Together’ exhibit. Thanks to Rizuto's Ice Cream for being there with delicious ice cream!

We plan to host quarterly artist mixers so stay tuned for what’s next in 2027!

Arts Month is official in Woodland Park! 🎨

We are grateful to Mayor Jones, City Council, and everyone who joined us in recognizing the important role arts and culture play across the Pikes Peak region.

Last Thursday's City Council meeting kicked off a creative initiative in Woodland Park. Mayor Jones and the City Council officially declared October 2026 Arts Month in the Pikes Peak region! Staff and supporters from the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, along with Gayle Gross, who supports many art initiatives throughout Woodland Park and beyond, were present and proud to accept the official Proclamation.

"Arts and humanities enhance and enrich the lives of every American, including supporting mental well-being, community cohesion, education, healing, economic vitality, tourism, and quality of life." This year marks the 13th Annual recognition of Arts Month in Woodland Park - a testament to the many benefits of incorporating art and culture into our community.
