Last week we gathered at the Millibo Art Theater for a panel discussion hosted by the Pikes Peak Community Foundation. We heard from three regional arts experts: Angela Seals, Executive Director of the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, Scott RC Levy, Executive Director of Green Box Arts and COPPR Board Chair, and Claire Swinford, Executive Director of the Bee Vradenburg Foundation.

The conversation explored how the Pikes Peak Region can continue strengthening its arts and culture ecosystem. It also underscored the important role arts and culture play in regional prosperity with much of that strength already present in the creativity found throughout our region. The opportunity ahead is to nurture that momentum and continue growing into the arts destination this region can become.

We invite you to stay engaged with us in this big topic! Stay in touch with COPPR's Creative Economy programming throughout the year through our social media and our e-mail newsletter.

COPPR was thrilled to partner on August 13 with the Colorado Neurodiversity Chamber of Commerce, the FIRST of its kind in the country, to bring together local creatives, "neurospicy" neighbors, and community advocates. We enjoyed networking, new friends, and a collaborative art activity from COPPR's Addressing Trauma Through the Arts Toolkit that supported everyone's brain-nourishing creativity.

Check out the Colorado Springs chapter of the Colorado Neurodiversity Chamber of Commerce to learn more about how you can connect with the resources they offer.

Happy August Frist Friday!

COPPR staff Becca, Jonathan, Luke, and office dog Lewis popped into The Look Up Gallery at Yobel this week to say hi to Clay and Emily Ross, owners of the fair-trade boutique, gallery and artist studios in the historic Trolley building downtown Colorado Springs. We love our region's creative businesses!

The Look Up Gallery throws a great First Friday party every month, so be sure to add them to your list of stops tonight--especially if you've never been!

This August is National Black Business Month. Black owned businesses are represented across every industry, and we would like to give special recognition to those working within the six interconnected industries that make up our creative sector. Black creatives are here, are thriving, and are helping shape the identity and future of the Pikes Peak region.

The COS Black Chamber of Commerce serves as an important resource for Black business owners and professionals throughout our community. We encourage our creative community to learn more, support local Black owned businesses, and engage with the Chamber throughout August and beyond.
