Today, Yuri’s Night joins communities across the United States in recognizing Juneteenth. A day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, perseverance, and the continued pursuit of justice.

This image is one of our favorites from Yuri’s Night Los Angeles in 2015. Standing beneath Space Shuttle Endeavour, Dr. Mae Jemison reflects on a remarkable journey. In 1992, she became the first woman of color to travel to space aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour, helping to inspire generations of explorers, scientists, engineers, and dreamers.

Dr. Jemison has often spoken about the importance of making space exploration accessible to everyone. Her achievements remind us that the future is shaped by the people who are given the opportunity to imagine it — and the courage to pursue it.

As we honor Juneteenth, we celebrate not only the significance of this day in American history, but also the individuals whose achievements continue to expand what is possible for future generations.

Happy Juneteenth from all of us at Yuri’s Night.

Happy Pride Month from Yuri’s Night!

Few images capture the spirit of humanity quite like this one: the Pride flag floating aboard the International Space Station, with our shared planet shining beyond the windows.

Space has a unique way of changing perspective. From orbit, Earth appears as a single, interconnected world — one without visible borders, divisions, or labels. It serves as a powerful reminder that our differences are part of what makes humanity extraordinary, and that progress is achieved when everyone has a place at the table.

Throughout history, LGBTQIA+ individuals have contributed to science, technology, exploration, education, and the arts, helping shape the future we all share. At Yuri’s Night, we believe that curiosity, discovery, and the wonder of space belong to everyone.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we honor the diverse voices and experiences that strengthen our communities and inspire future generations to reach for the stars.

Happy Pride Month.

May the Fourth be with you 🌌

From the Dark Side to droids on the lawn, the Force was strong at Yuri’s Night Los Angeles at Griffith Observatory. A night where science, space, and a galaxy far, far away came together under one sky.

Even Vader couldn’t resist the pull of Venus… guess you could say he felt a disturbance in the orbit 🌍✨

Whether you came for the stars above or the stories that inspire us to reach them, this is what Yuri’s Night is all about.

Stay curious. Stay inspired. Keep looking up.

Dr. Claire Nelson of Jamaica shared this special song with us in honor of April 12 and the twenty-fifth celebration of Yuri’s Night.

Created specifically for this milestone celebration, “Dancing on the Moon” carries a message that reaches far beyond music.

As Dr. Claire Nelson explains, “Dancing on the Moon” is not just a song. It is an invitation. An invitation for humanity to imagine itself not as separate nations competing for space, but as one human race rising together.” 🌕✨

Featuring Jamaican vocalist Ricardo Anderson, produced by reggae legend Mikie Bennett, and written by futurist Dr. Claire Nelson, the song translates complex ideas about access, belonging, and planetary identity into a shared emotional experience.

Take a moment to listen, enjoy, and let the message settle in. A beautiful reminder that space continues to inspire creativity, connection, and a broader vision of who we are together 🌕🎶🚀
