💫Celebrating 10-Years of Serving Our Mission!

Last night was nothing short of incredible. ✨

Our hearts are so full as we reflect on a beautiful evening surrounded by a community that truly showed up — with love, curiosity, compassion, and support for recovery.

From the powerful stories shared, to the meaningful conversations, to the art, the film, and every moment in between… it was a reminder of why this work matters so deeply.

To our sponsors, donors, volunteers, board and committee members, staff, and community partners — thank you for making this night possible. Your belief in our mission creates real impact.

Thank you, Adriana Marchione and The Paramount Theater of Charlottesville for being such great partners in this event and bringing these visions to life! 😊

And to the women of Georgia’s Friends — our residents and graduates — your courage, strength, and willingness to share your journeys are what make this community so powerful. You are the heart of everything we do.

We are endlessly grateful. 🩵

Charlottesville, thank you for standing with us.

✨ If last night moved you, we invite you to carry it forward — share the story of recovery and the mission of Georgia’s Friends with someone who may not know about us yet. Start a conversation, extend an invitation, and help us continue this momentum.

Together, we can reach more women, build more community, and remind others that recovery is possible.

~ Walk A Mile In Their Shoes 2025 ~

What an amazing day! Thank you to everyone who joined us both in person and in spirit for our 5th annual Walk A Mile Event. Your energy, passion, and commitment help continue to move our mission forward. We are so very grateful for this community!

So much to share from today’s 5th annual event, but we’ll start here:

Photo 1: Starting the day strong! Our guests were greeted by our Executive Director, Kristina Smith, and by our Board President, Helen Karls ☀️

Photo 2: Event Committee Co-Chair, sponsor, and past Board President Karen Turner, taking a moment to soak it all in (and enjoy a nice hot coffee) after the walk! Karen’s steadfast, powerhouse level of commitment to our mission has driven Georgia’s Friends forward for years 🩷

Photo 3: Event Committee Co-Chairs and sponsors Marion Meythaler and Natasha Lawler heading inside after the walk. Marion (of MaMey Design) provided the beautiful original artwork that graced our event invitations and signage. Natasha shared not only her genius eye for delicate design, but she and her husband Nick are also one of our incredible Mountaintop Sponsors - their commitment covers the cost of housing and programming for ten residents of Georgia’s House for one month! 🦋 Also pictured (we may or may not have been stopping everyone for pictures!), Lizzy Turner, another invaluable member of our incredible event committee!

Keep an eye out for more pictures of our beautiful Friday morning spent with friends in support of the incredible women we serve!
