I: Head and Neck Cancer Screening

9 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 18.

UVA Otolaryngology (ENT) Clinic at 415 Ray C. Hunt Dr., with free parking available outside the clinic.

Appointments recommended; to schedule an appointment or for more information, call 434-924-5593.

A physician will see patients if they answer “yes” to one or more of these questions:
• Are you a longtime to***co user?
• Do you have persistent pain in your throat or ear?
• Do you have difficulty swallowing, pain on swallowing or trouble moving your tongue?
• Do you have a sore/ulcer/lump in your mouth that has lasted more than two weeks?
• Do you have a lump in your neck?
• Has your voice changed?

WOMEN IN TRANSITION
SUPPORT GROUP
Women helping women connect, heal, and grow.

Dates: Every Monday beginning April 13th, 2015 – June 8th, 2015
Time: 5:30pm - 7:30 pm
Location: SHE Community Outreach Center

This 9-week group for women provides an educational and supportive opportunity for survivors to talk about the impact of intimate partner violence in their lives. The group will identify common reactions to intimate partner violence and exchange strategies for self-care, empowerment, & moving toward tomorrow with hope. Topics will include:

Dynamics of Intimate Partner Violence
Healthy Relationships
Emotional Issues (Depression, Anxiety, Anger, and Grief)
Boundaries and Trust
Safety Planning
Stress Management and Self-Care
Self-Esteem

Virginia Discovery Museum's annual community celebration of everything science is back! Learn about your teeth and drill a fake cavity with a local dentist, look at the sun through a solar telescope, and much more as more than 30 local groups share their expertise in a wide variety of fields, including astronomy, biology, chemistry, ecology, meteorology, physics, and zoology.

Kid*Vention is ideal for families with children up to age 10, but all ages are welcome to attend.

Black Love Binge Films

We present the 2nd of our binge film sessions, this time focused on black romance in film. Our chosen films, Love Jones, Medicine for Melancholy, and Brown Sugar span a period from 1997-2008 allowing us to see the significance of culture in different contexts as it relates to black love at the turn of the 21st century.

A young black poet in Chicago starts dating a beautiful and talented photographer and with the help of their friends, they try to figure out if they’ve got a “love thing” or are just “kicking it”.
