When we asked our Camp community what this place means to them, one parent shared a story that stayed with us.

Her daughter first attended Camp while she was still undergoing cancer treatment.

“CHT became a place where she could feel normal, and we, as her parents, could feel safe and assured while she was away at Camp.”

That is what Camp can offer a family. A child gets the freedom to try new things, make friends and simply be a kid. Parents know that experienced, caring people understand what their child needs.

It also helps explain why 68 percent of survey respondents said removing financial barriers to Camp programming is especially meaningful to them.
Thank you for helping make that kind of Camp experience possible for more children and families.

Calling all Virginia state employees! The 2026 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign - CVC starts tomorrow, October 7!

Use CVC Code: 200081 to support Camp Holiday Trails and help children and teens with medical needs experience friendship, independence, and belonging. The CVC runs from October 7 through December 31, 2026.

A gift of just $5 per paycheck adds up to meaningful support for our Camp community! You can also report your volunteer hours at Camp through CVC.

Our Director of Programs, Caitlin and MSW Intern, Logan joined the T1D community today at the Breakthrough T1D Summit in Richmond. Logan facilitated the teen program to support connections for those living with T1D, while Caitlin met with families & industry representatives to share more about CHT and our year-round programs. As Sickle Cell Awareness Month comes to a close, our support for children and families living with sickle cell continues year-round.

At CHT, we welcome children and teens with a range of medical needs, including sickle cell. Summer Camp offers opportunities for adventure, independence, and belonging. Our Family Camps and Community Groups connect families with one another, offering support, practical tools for managing medical needs, and helpful resources.

Every child deserves to be celebrated for who they are, and every family deserves a community where they feel supported.

Camp Loves Our Volunteer Groups!
A big Camp thank-you to Pastor Chris Wulff and the volunteers from Peace Lutheran ELCA in Charlottesville for spending time at CHT as part of the ELCA’s annual day of service! The group helped paint fences, clear bamboo and weeds, and write birthday cards to our awesome campers. We are so grateful for the time and care you shared with our Camp community! Come back anytime!

As our campers settle into a new school year, we bet they’re missing Camp as much as we’re missing them! Campsick means missing cookouts, cheering on friends at the talent show, riding your favorite horse and, of course, the friends who make Camp feel like home.
