Our Future is a paid fellowship program empowering young people to be valued leaders in movements for justice, sustainability, and equity. We invest in those who face social and economic barriers to advocacy work by giving them resources, a livable wage, professional mentorship, and connections to local organizations. Through our program, fellows turn their ideas into reality and grow as powerful agents of change for their communities.

Feel tree to drop material donations off to the cabinet at any time, and reach out if you have any questions about financial contributions!

We have seen first hand the profound impact this resource has had on the surrounding neighborhoods. Items placed in the cabinet rarely last more than 24 hours due to high demand. Please help where you can!

Meet our fellow Jaydin!

Hi, I’m Jaydin McMickle! I am from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and I study Music at the University of Iowa. I am passionate about music and the connection it has to social justice. I care about my community and believe every human being should have access to basic needs and a good quality of life.

It has been really exciting to be a fellow at Our Future! It has been great to have hands-on work with non-profits and to work on the social justice issues in Cedar Rapids. Through Our Future, I have created a curriculum for Black Student Union students to learn from and about Black artists. I have also helped create a 24/7 access Community Resource Cabinet that provides basic goods to meet public needs.
