In collaboration with Easter Lake and their staff, Adaptive Sports Iowa is starting to offer Outdoor Recreation Days! Gather with your friends and other people with disabilities to enjoy the great outdoors together! There will be a variety of accessible activities to choose from.

Ready for summer? Looking for an engaging online learning opportunity? Learn to take action in your life to get the things you want and need! Register to join us for a self-determination webinar series starting Monday July 7.

Teens and young adults who have an active IEP are invited to register for an online Youth Self-Determination Series.

During this four-week online course, young people can learn to choose and set their own goals, be more involved with decision making, and learn to advocate for themselves.

These are interactive online sessions and participants should come ready to share. Space is limited. Registration closes June 27th or when the course is full. Register at https://tinyurl.com/25YouthSeries

I just received an email from a mother thinking about her 'empty nest'.
I choose to see it differently.

When my only son went to college, then later purchased his own home, I didnt look at it as empty nesting..I didnt grieve his moving forward, or change in my routine. I saw it as an opportunity to be able to celebrate what I have been working for my son's entire life, his autonomy.
We as parents, it is our job to work ourselves out of a job.
That being said, are we there to connect, or act as a launch pad for further success? Of course.
I saw this as an opportunity to work on my new found autonomy.
