The Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean

The Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean Our mission is to clean and protect our ocean through scientific research, outreach, education, and cleanups.

We are based in Vermont, but our home is our 60 ft. sustainable oceanic research vessel called American Promise based in the Gulf of Maine.

It's not every day that a cleanup begins with lambs, but the one we conducted on Nash Islands sure did!

In collaboration with Maine Island Trail Association, Surfrider Foundation Maine Chapter, and island caretaker Alfie Wakeman, our crews removed over 6,000 pounds of debris from the shore.

Fresh greens at sea. 🌱

One of the challenges of spending extended time on the water is keeping fresh produce on hand. That’s why Ashley was excited to try a sprouting kit from The Sprouting Company aboard American Promise.

Today, we harvested our first batch of sprouts — fresh, nutritious greens grown right on the boat.

A big thank you to Company for creating a simple way to grow fresh food in places where access isn’t always easy. It’s a small thing that can make a big difference when you’re living and working at sea.

As we continue our Gulf of Maine expedition, we’re grateful for tools that help make a sustainable lifestyle a little more achievable, wherever the journey takes us.
