Join hundreds of costumed neighbors on a joyful, fun-filled, and not at all scary bike, walk, and roll on the streets of Burlington! Sunday, October 25th.

Gather at City Hall Park at 1:30PM to get excited - we roll out at 2PM SHARP!

Ride together throughout town, culminating at Old Spokes Home for photos, music, and more. A great way to get more mileage out of your awesome costume and have a blast with your community too.

Please note, motor vehicles (including e-motos) are not permitted. All are welcome to join us on bicycles, e-bikes, trikes, recumbents, walkers, strollers, rollers, etc.

Worried about riding near cars? Unsure how to teach your children safe cycling habits? New-ish to biking? Smart Cycling is a workshop series to help you get started.

Learn the skills and gain confidence to ride safely on the road and with traffic through hands-on training with our League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor. As the days get shorter, we will focus on fall/winter topics: how to dress, what to bring, and riding in the dark.

Local Motion's Smart Cycling is a two-session workshop series, including one virtual learning session on October 29 and an in-person on-bike session on November 1.

Local Motion's Complete Streets team is working on the ground with communities across Vermont to reimagine their streets as safe, more comfortable places to walk, bike, and roll.

In this recent Walk Audit, we worked with citizens of Morristown to assess the current street and sidewalk conditions, and discuss changes that would benefit the community, local businesses, and users of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.

Here's a glimpse at a few more demonstration projects we'll be working on this fall, using temporary materials and adaptable designs to test new street designs:
🛑 Traffic calming and safer crossings on Marsett Road in Shelburne
🚲 Building a safe connection between the LVRT and St. Johnsbury’s downtown
🚶‍♀️ Improving crosswalk visibility and crossing distances on Main Street in Poultney
🚧 Plus, a one afternoon test creating a protected bike lane on South Union Street in Burlington

This Week Without Driving, we're reflecting on all the car trips we've already replaced so far this year.

Local Motion staff are always finding new ways to get our jobs done by bike: from hauling bike racks across town, to a rescue mission replacing a broken down bike, to tabling at local events, and even picking up a few hundred t-shirts.

Work is just more fun when we do it by bike. We're also reducing our environmental impact, increasing our time spent with community, and positively impacting health and wellbeing.

We're also looking back at all of the car trips that YOU have replaced by riding your bike instead. Thousands of people parked their bikes with us at events this year, and tens of thousands took our Bike Ferry to visit the Champlain Islands.
