Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) Turning Values Into Action Since 1990: We are Vermont’s business association for companies leading with purpose.

We champion “business as a force for good,” collectively building an economy that works for all people and the planet. Our diverse membership represents all sectors and geographic regions of Vermont - from sole proprietors to the largest employers in the state – and is united by a single vision: a just, thriving, and transformative economy that works for all people and the planet. Individually and collectively, our network of 650 member businesses and organizations advances this vision through shared learning, community building, and collective action. For more than 30 years, VBSR has recognized that what is good for people, communities, and the environment is also good for business. From our beginnings as a small group of pioneering businesses to today’s network of thousands, VBSR members have continued to prove themselves leaders, innovators, and influencers, with impact reaching far beyond the workplace: our members have shaped the Vermont brand, advanced leading-edge policy, and fueled the social responsibility movement.

We’re celebrating Co-op Month and Employee Ownership Month with VBSR Member New Frameworks Natural Design/Build 💫

New Frameworks is a multi-racial, q***r, trans, and women-owned cooperative. They are committed to building resilient homes that are kinder to our environment and our communities.

What does employee ownership mean to their team? One of their members shares:

“Tangibly, it empowers me daily. I feel that I have a strong connection to the success of the co-operative as a whole, knowing that the success of the cooperative directly benefits my fellow worker-owners, my community, and me/my family.”

VBSR Members like New Frameworks show that there is power in the collective. We’re also grateful for organizations like the Vermont Employee Ownership Center that help advance employee ownership and support worker-owned businesses across our state.

Healthcare is a top priority for VBSR members, and we’re bringing the conversation back to the table at our annual Advocacy Breakfast.

Join VBSR members, legislators, advocates, and state leaders at Hula to explore how we can work together toward a more sustainable healthcare system in Vermont. We’ll also reflect on VBSR’s advocacy work over the past year and look ahead to the priorities we’re building together for 2027.

As VBSR looks forward to a rebrand this October, we’re building on what has always mattered: a business community rooted in trust, shared values, and a belief that business can be a force for good. 💫

Our evolving brand reflects that same spirit—a welcoming movement where people feel valued, stronger together, and focused on meaningful change.

That also means showing up for our communities and our democracy. As this fall’s General Election approaches, we’re encouraging our community to stay informed, get involved, and make their voices heard.

Because the future we’re building starts with how we show up for one another. 💛
