Our dear TIC community,
The Translating Identity Conference will take a hiatus in 2019. It is with heavy hearts, but with great optimism for the future, that we are cancelling the conference on October 12th.
We are so proud of this conference and what it has meant for our community since its founding by students in 2002. We have grown so much in the last 17 years, and none of it could have been possible without you. Put on by volunteers, the steering committee is seeking community members on- and off-campus who are passionate about building trans community and interested in contributing to the planning process. If you’d like to be a part of re-imagining TIC 2020, please contact [email protected].
We know that now more than ever, the space that this conference provides to freely explore gender identity is critical. We look forward to continuing this important tradition after regrouping and rediscovering how to best meet the needs of our community. More formal opportunities for input into the future of TIC will be announced soon.
Though TIC will not be happening this year, please don’t fret! We'll be back soon. In the meantime, there are many places you can still find support. UVM will be hosting the Northeast Q***r and Trans People of Color Conference (NEQTPOC) in spring 2020, and you can click here for a list of other conferences near you. There are also many Vermont-based resources, including:
-Outright Vermont
-Pride Center of Vermont
-Out in the Open
-UVM Medical Center Transgender Youth Program
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this period of transition. Though we are on hiatus this year, we understand deeply the importance of creating this conference with and for our community, and promise we will see you soon!
In solidarity,
The TIC Team
