I established Lock-It Inc to honor Jeff Charbonneau who was shot and killed while he slept Thanksgiving morning November 25, 2010. Jeff grew up in the small town of Manchester, Vermont. He was a kind and caring twenty-four-year-old man. The impact he had on people was evident with the packed gym and lobby at Burr & Burton Academy where over 1,000 people attended his funeral to say goodbye. An accomplished athlete, captain of both his soccer and hockey state champion teams at Burr & Burton Academy, he then went on to receive his B.A. from the University of Vermont. Most of all he was a Vermonter who enjoyed all that his state had to offer. He was an avid fisherman and a trickster snowboarded who loved his life. Jeff was taken from his loving family and friends when Nick Bell took an "airgun" off of the wall and shot him through the heart, killing him instantly with a bullet from a rifle. He lost his life simply because the gun was not locked. My hope is by sharing Jeff's story, gun owners will understand the urgency to lock their guns. Together we can make a difference in changing the future for other loving families. Jeff my love always! - Thelma Lou
