Get ready for Zero Waste race season! We're once again partnering with Cedar Lake Tri Series to provide reusable cups at the hydration stations! Imagine - races without piles of discarded cups on the road! Look for us at events all summer with our reusable hydration station!

A special thank you to Fulfilled Goods in Newton, Mass for sharing the dishwasher they installed with a Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection grant so we can wash and sterilze 1500 cups!

Clean Water Action was invited on an offshore wind tour by (thank you!) and while we have lots of facts and real takeaways, we also wanted to share the stunned reaction of our comms liason from NJ who could NOT contain her joy or her awe. Congratulations to Newton North student, Cindy Qiao, our 2026 John O'Connor Grassroots Leadership Awardee! Cindy is being honored for her Zero Waste work founding the Full Fork Initiative. She saw uneaten cafeteria food being dumped in the trash and realized she could tackle two problems, hunger and waste, with one campaign. Her initiative now diverts untouched cafeteria food from seven Newton schools, reducing waste while distributing weekly snack bags to 100 students in need. We will honor Cindy, and all of our 2026 champions, on June 11th! Newton Public Schools - Newton, MA

Clean Water Action sends our deepest condolences to the family of Bobby Kilduff, the members and leadership of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM), and Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF. Bobby fought alongside us in the effort to protect health from toxic chemicals. His loss is a huge one.

On Saturday night, May 23rd, Boston Firefighter and Marine veteran Robert “BK” Kilduff, Jr. made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

BK, a member of Rescue Company 2, suffered catastrophic injuries after falling from the third floor of a burning home at 18 Treadway Road in Dorchester. Despite the extraordinary efforts of fellow firefighters on scene, Boston EMS, and the staff at Boston Medical Center, BK succumbed to his injuries.

He leaves behind two adult children, a loving girlfriend, and her children.

BK dedicated his life to serving others. Whether as a United States Marine, a Boston firefighter, or during his 15 years working for the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts, BK was always willing to step up and help anyone in need. He was known throughout the PFFM and IAFF as someone who could always be counted on, no matter the task, the hour, or the challenge.

His commitment to the fire service, organized labor, and helping others left a lasting impact on so many people across Massachusetts and beyond.

BK’s loss is being felt deeply by his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and the communities he spent his life protecting and serving. During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking for your support for those he leaves behind.

File under: AWESOME. Last night, these Malden Public Schools students spoke before the City Council in support of efforts to protect their community from toxic pollution and bring climate education to schools. They were well-prepared after working together over the last year as part of Clean Water's Youth Action Collaborative, a program giving Malden youth the skills and knowledge to stand up for environmental justice in their own community. We are SO proud of these young leaders! Thank you City of Malden (Official) for listening to what they had to say.

So many of us either struggle with asthma or love someone who does. Join us tomorrow (Tuesday May 19th!) in Springfield at the Brightwood Library Community Room from 5-7pm for a Clean Air Resource Fair! We will share resources for families with asthma, advocate together for clean air, and enjoy food and community!
