The support of our elected leaders has always been critical to the community health center movement's success. At the Mass League, we are proud to uplift the leaders who are advocating for our health centers and their patients on Beacon Hill. And one of the strongest voices for our movement in the Legislature is Chair Marjorie Decker!

In honor of Juneteenth, our Multicultural Employee Resource Group partnered with Livelikealocaltoursboston on a walking tour for our staff. We explored Nubian Square Roxbury, a neighborhood at the heart of Boston’s Black culture. The tour covered the rich history of Roxbury; we admired community murals, visited a Black-owned bookshop, and sampled local cuisine.

Now is the time to protect community health centers.

With rising operating costs, looming cuts to Medicaid, and critical provider shortages, health centers need support. That’s why community health centers from across the Commonwealth gathered on Beacon Hill today in support of our legislative agenda. This powerful set of bills would ensure health centers can keep delivering essential care to the patients who need it most.

We’re grateful to have state leaders that understand the urgency of this moment and are dedicated to protecting access to care. Thank you, especially to Chairman State Rep. John Lawn and Senator Julian Cyr, the recipients of our Community Health Center Champion Award. We appreciate how you make time to listen to community health advocates and work diligently on solutions to our challenges.

Meet the class of 2026! Today, we celebrated the graduates of our Community Health & Community Health Center Management certificate program, offered in partnership with Suffolk University. The class of health center employees studied health policy, built key management skills, and graduated ready to lead in the health center movement.

We’re especially excited that the elected student commencement speaker was Casey Squier, the Program Manager on our Health Informatics team. Congratulations to Casey and all the graduates!

We brought together over 50 partners and community health center leaders for a dynamic workforce capacity–building learning session focused on strengthening our collective impact. We deeply appreciate all who participated and shared their experiences. Together, we are advancing community-driven solutions across the Commonwealth.

Thank you to our partners at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, LESN101, Willful Change, and Bentley University for lending their time and expertise to the day’s workshops. The meaningful dialogue exchanged will support the work our community does across health centers.

A huge thank you to our emcee Latoyia Edwards, Emmy Award-winning NBC10 Boston anchor, who had the room energized and laughing all night long. We're grateful to all who made the night a success!
