Holyoke is home to one of the state's largest Hispanic populations. This community represents the breadth and diversity of Hispanic identity, with residents who can trace their roots to Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean. The food, music, culture, and values that they have weaved into the fabric of Holyoke is one of the reasons why it is such a special city.
As such an integral part of the city, Holyoke's Hispanic residents deserve the best care possible. Holyoke Health Center understands this, which is why it goes above and beyond to ensure it has the services and supports necessary to meet the needs of such a diverse population. This means employing leaders, providers, and staff who reflect the people they serve - More than half of all of Holyoke Health's staff, including 27 clinicians and 208 support staff, are multilingual. When the people providing care understand a patient's language, cultural values, and circumstances, it builds trust with historically underserved communities, fosters greater engagement and improves care.
