"A strong will take significant strides toward addressing urgent environmental challenges. ELM thanks the House and Chair Christine Barber for State Senate for their hard work developing legislation that makes communities greener, healthier, and more resilient" - ELM's David Melly.

Thanks to ongoing efforts led by Representative Barber and Representative Sam Montaño, the Mass Ready Act contains new policy for MA to improve its monitoring and remediation strategies. The House also passed a critical amendment filed by State Representative Ted Philips to create a program to fund .

ELM looks forward to working with the House and Senate as they finalize the bill, ensuring it delivers the full scope of investments needed to protect the Commonwealth’s environment, public health, and economy.

Earlier this week, ELM's Carlos Avila and Rob Hart represented the ELM Action Fund at the League of Conservation Voters' annual Advocacy Fly-In in Washington, D.C.

Carlos and Rob met with members of the MA delegation to discuss the issues that matter most to our communities: skyrocketing and the role can play in lowering them, ongoing federal attacks on , and the need to hold oil and gas accountable for the costs of damage.

At a time of significant federal uncertainty, MA's delegation continues to demonstrate strong leadership on climate and clean energy priorities. “ is changing the paradigm of what deployment looks like.”

Yesterday, ELM staff were thrilled to join a group of New England advocates for a tour of the farm, hosted by National Wildlife Federation.

Located 35 miles off of Long Island, South Fork Wind is the first utility-scale in the U.S., powering New York with clean energy, creating jobs, and helping meet growing across the Northeast. Its 12 turbines generate enough electricity to power approximately 70K homes, helping stabilize .

Seeing the turbines up close was an incredible reminder of the scale, innovation, and opportunity offshore wind represents, and how can work in harmony with our and communities.

We are grateful to NWF for this opportunity! As offshore wind has faced relentless federal attacks, seeing the turbines in action offered a strong sense of hope and determination.
