Come to Mattahunt Woods next Saturday for a day of discovery and spooky adventures!

This will be a chance for people of all ages to visit Mattahunt and learn about different plants and animals from local experts. This is a free event with COSTUMES encouraged and light snacks, refreshments, and Halloween candy!

• Paint at the Condor Street Urban Wild and make new friends! There will be hot chocolate and pastries 🥐

• Join us at Geneva Cliffs for a guided journaling session under the full moon 🌕 we’ll have headlamps, hot bevs, and pastries to share!

Sharing a few pics from Moakley Park’s Bioblitz last month with Boston Harbor Now!

This flower is a California Poppy with a native Sweat Bee 📸: Harley “Harles” Monteiro, MCH, MPS

This is a Golden Northern Bumblebee(Bombus Fervidus), a relatively rare species also seen in Moakley Park but earlier this summer

This “spaghetti-looking” plant is called Dodder, Cuscata, or Meadow Spaghetti🍝 . This is a parasitic vine that is very intelligent, and is able to choose the healthiest roots around them. Then they send “roots” through the stems of the host to get energy ⚡️

Look at this Philanthus sp. Beewolf foraging on a Goldenrod! 🤩

Gather under the full moon with the Trustees Boston Resilience team for an easy walk along the Neponset River Greenway.

The Full Sturgeon Moon rises just as we set out — and later that night it slips into Earth’s shadow for a partial lunar eclipse, reaching its deepest point at 12:12AM. Nearly the whole moon will be covered, often taking on a coppery red glow.

Walk starts at 7:30pm, sunset is at 7:29pm, and we’ll be out until 8:30pm.

Dress comfortably, wear good walking shoes, and don’t forget your water bottle!

Registration required just so we can keep track and send updates!

Meet at Pope John Paul II Park – near the playground

No rain date. If weather is bad, we will be meeting at a library

WHO IS THIS FOR? This is an all ages walk, please bring your friends, siblings, grandparents, dogs, everyone!

GOOD TO KNOW:

can get there by bus!
