From the balcony of the Old State House in the City of Boston , John S Damiano , the 318th Captain Commanding of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts read of the Declaration of Independence in Boston on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America.

Yesterday, July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, led by our 318th Captain Commanding, John S Damiano, paraded from Copley Square in Boston to the Old Granary Burial Bround to lay wreaths, to the Old State House for the 250th reading of the Declaration of Independence.

The longest, continuous annual reading of the Declaration of Independence by the Captain Commanding of the Ancients is a Boston tradition that dates back to the first reading in Boston in 1776.

The parade (in 90° temperatures) ended at our Headquarters and Armory at Faneuil Hall. Despite the heat, it was a great turnout of our fellow Ancients - Facta non verba! 🇺🇲

More pictures to follow featuring the reading of the Declaration of Independence.
