The Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew at Aberdeen. This will be one of the stops during this year's 389th Fall Field Day Tour of Duty led by Captain Commanding John S Damiano

The cathedral has many historical ties, as well as present links, to the United States.

Part of the ceiling of the cathedral was decorated in 1935 with the coats of arms of the then 48 US states.

There are also several flags with American connections including the stars and stripes, presented by General Eisenhower when he left Europe at the end of the Second World War and the stars and stripes shield of the United States is in the stained glass above the altar.

Members of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts Command Staff, led by Captain Commanding John S Damiano , toured the Gordon's Highlanders museum during the pretrip to Scotland.

A visit to the Gordon's Highlanders museum will be a special part of our annual Fall Field Day Tour of Duty and will include a wreath laying ceremony.

The Gordon Highlanders was a line infantry regiment of the British Army that existed for 113 years, from 1881 until 1994, when it was amalgamated with The Queen's Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons) to form The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons).

The regiment earned its reputation for bravery and discipline in conflicts ranging from the Napoleonic Wars to the Cold War. Thirteen members of the Gordon's Highlanders received the Victoria Cross.
