The three main pollutants that keep the Harbor from being safe for swimming and fishing are bacteria, trash, and polluted stormwater runoff.

Yesterday students from Digital Harbor High School joined us for an oyster gardening boat trip! With their help we transported our FIRST oysters of the season from the Inner Harbor to the Chesapeake Bay.

Our oysters grow to one year old in the Baltimore Harbor, filtering water and improving water quality while they grow, before being taken to their forever homes in the Bay aboard a historic vessel.

Thanks to our students from DHH for helping us out and kicking off our season of oyster boat rides!

Better watch out- oysters are a gateway species to other filter feeders. 🚨 Before you know it, your teen will be trying to restore other critical species in the bay ecosystem 🦪😤

It might be cold and dreary outside, but warmer weather and summer vibes will be here before you know it! Get ready to break out your paddles- and disco balls- for this year’s Baltimore Floatilla.

Floatilla will bring paddlers back out on the water on Saturday, June 13, 2026 for a 5 mile paddle across the Baltimore Harbor, from Canton to the Inner Harbor and back. Kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, and rowboats are welcome on the water.

This year we’re bringing disco back again with a take two of Saturday Morning Fever. Tickets will go on sale soon- so for now save the date, start curating your perfect disco fever playlist, and ask your relatives if they have any bell bottoms you can borrow. 🕺🕺🕺
