There's still room in all our lab courses for Fall 2024, with BIOL 121 Fundamentals of Biology (Weds) and ENVS 300 Greater Baltimore Urban Ecosystems (Sats) offered in-person, and ENVS 221 Science of the Environment offered hybrid (Tues/Thurs).

Dr. Kemp will be teaching ENVS 221 and ENVS 300, while Prof. Dean is back at the helm of BIOL 121.

While we already miss Dr. Pecher on his year-long research sabbatical, Dr. Kemp and Prof. Dean are excited to welcome you back this fall!

For the first time, ENVS 300 will be open to ANY student - not just Environmental Sustainability majors - who has previously taken ENVS 221. ENVS 300 is a field-trip based class that meets once a week on Saturdays.

Our Story

Young people today have inherited a world altered by centuries of human expansion and exploitation. And not unlike other urban centers, the greater Baltimore area faces significant current and future ecological challenges - pollution, water quality, urban sprawl, and climate change, to name a few. The Environmental Sustainability major in the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Baltimore offers a unique opportunity for people interested in learning how urban centers are confronting significant ecological and cultural challenges through a multidisciplinary program that combines environmental science, sociology, and public policy. We prepare students for environmental careers that make the world a better place in local, regional, and national government agencies, pre-environmental law, nonprofit organizations, education, environmental consulting and permitting, hygiene, and environmental compliance.
