Soroptimist Int'l of Anchorage Soroptimist International of Anchorage on Cook Inlet is a women's service organization dedicated to i Soroptimist members belong to local clubs.

The name, Soroptimist, means "best for women," and that's what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best. Clubs participate in the Dream Programs of Soroptimist, Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women and Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls to help women and girls achieve social and economic empow

erment. The Dream Programs of Soroptimist ensure women and girls have access to the education and training they need to reach their full potential and live their dreams. Soroptimist is committed to investing in programs that have a sustainable, measurable change for women and girls. Clubs also participate in local level projects such as providing mammograms to low-income women, working to end s*x trafficking for women and girls and mentoring women in domestic violence shelters. Soroptimist also sponsors Live Your Dream.org, an online community empowering offline volunteer action. The self-motivated network is made up of people who wish to support women and girls in their quest to lead better lives, while gaining inspiration in their own lives. Members of the free online community work on topics such as womenโ€™s economic empowerment, ending violence against women, human trafficking, and more. They also have access to inspirational articles, tips, and blogs that can help them live their own personal dreams.

Every year, Soroptimist of Anchorage comes together for one of our most treasured traditions: creating handmade โ€œstockingsโ€ for the women and families at Clare House. ๐Ÿ’™โœจ

These simple pillowcases, stitched with care by our members and friends, are filled with warm socks, winter hats, small comforts, and little reminders that someone out there is rooting for them. But more than anything, theyโ€™re packed with love, hope, and the belief that brighter days are ahead.

As we gather each year, weโ€™re reminded why this event means so much to us. Itโ€™s not just about gifts, itโ€™s about connection. About women lifting up other women. About sharing laughter, friendship, and purpose while creating something that will bring comfort to someone we may never meet, but deeply care about.

Seeing our group come together, smiling, working side by side, celebrating another year of service, is a beautiful reminder of the power of community. These moments are what make Soroptimist feel like family.

Happy Founder's Day! On this day in 1921, the first Soroptimist club was chartered by women pioneers and first President Violet Richardson. Now, 103 years later, we are a global network of Soroptimist federations with more than 75,000 members across six continents! We are so grateful for our members' ongoing hard work, generosity, and passion for our mission.
