The Alaska Long Trail is in the news.
Thank you Anchorage Daily News editorial board for this excellent opinion. We agree!

A single mile of trail in Anchorage is part of a much bigger vision — one that ties recreation, economic development and quality of life together.

Alaska Long Trail in Anchorage!

The next time you are walking on the Ship Creek Trail and along the Chester Creek Trail at Westchester Lagoon, take a moment to notice the new signage highlighting the Alaska Long Trail - with a QR code to maps. This ambitious effort to link trails and communities together across Alaska has signage in Anchorage.

Our friends at Alaska Trails are leading this effort, but it takes all of us to advocate for more funding to build and maintain trails. Many thanks to the Alaska Legislature, and in particular Senator Bill Wielechowski and Senator Kelly Merrick who led efforts to secure funding for trails and wayfinding.

Congratulations, Challenge Grantees!

This year, we received 30 grant applications requesting nearly $1 million in funding. Ultimately, we were able to support 14 projects, awarding a total of $311,000.

The strong response underscores both the quality of proposals and the continued need for investment in parks and trails across Anchorage, Chugiak, Eagle River and Girdwood.

Grantees are all volunteers working to improve parks and trails in this beautiful city we call home. Thank you!

Happy Alaska Arbor Day! 🌱⛏️

Today, our incredible volunteers dug into Alaska Arbor Day by planting 60+ seedlings in Nunaka Valley North Park! Huge shoutout to the amazing volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty, helping to ensure this community forest will continue to thrive into the future - cleaning our air, providing habitat for wildlife, and growing our urban canopy.
