Mark your calendar for August 27 from 5-7 pm to celebrate the kickoff of the improvements with Native Village of Eklutna and Great Land Trust. We will gather at Lyn Ary Park and walk down the coastal trail for an Indigenous blessing.

Changes Are Coming to Fish Creek Plaza!

Construction will soon begin on improvements to the plaza along the Coastal Trail at the Fish Creek Estuary (mile 2.5), including new benches and updated signage at this popular overlook. The project will highlight Great Land Trust’s conservation of the estuary and is also part of Anchorage’s Indigenous Place Names movement, which brings Dena’ina language, culture, and history into public spaces through place name markers, art, and storytelling.

Fish Creek is one of 32 culturally significant sites identified by the Native Village of Eklutna along Anchorage’s parks and trails.

Visitors may notice temporary traffic changes during construction, with completion anticipated by the end of this summer season. Thank you for your patience as these improvements take shape!

Another reason to love dogs.

🐶🌱Do you think your dog could be better at identifying plants than you??

The answer may be “yes”! Check out the link below to learn about “conservation dogs” and their potential to sniff out invasive species!

https://k9conservationists.org/what-is-a-conservation-detection-dog/

Neither you or your dog need to be an expert- if you see an unusual plant or animal, call 1-877-INVASIV or use the AK Invasives ID App to identify it and report any invasive species.

We look forward to sharing more details of his epic adventure. For now, go check out his page for images and video from his time traversing some of Alaska's best terrain!
