"'Innovation' in industrial water is often framed as a technology question, but it's really bigger than that. it includes integrated planning... then ensuring that the water is fit for purpose from a process design standpoint, and then building stronger partnerships across the relevant stakeholders." - Nyima Dansira

ICYMI: WEF leadership and staff showed up across the full range of activities at IFAT Munich 2026!

This was the largest show in its 60-year history, with 3,400 exhibitors and over 142,000 attendees from 160 countries. WEF hosted a pavilion featuring five exhibitors, a WEF kiosk, and three U.S. operator teams competing in Water Skills Germany.

During the event, WEF renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA), an important moment of on-going international collaboration and influence on behalf of WEF members. The Water Skills competition showcased U.S., Moroccan and German workforce collaboration at its best.

Shout out to WEF President Keith Hobson for representing WEF members and the U.S. clean water sector abroad!

No one organization can do it alone. IFAT 2026 reminded us what is possible across the globe when the sector shows up and supports its people.

Time to get technical!

In-situ non-destructive testing (NDT) can assess the condition of both the internal and external sections of collection system pipes, offering valuable condition-assessment insights without the need for disruptive excavation. A number of projects in North America have benefited from NDT tools, and they provide a solid framework for understanding the opportunities and challenges of proper implementation.

Take a deep dive into NDT in 'Reading Between the Pipes,' in the latest edition of WE&T magazine: https://www.waterenvironmenttechnology-digital.com/waterenvironmenttechnology/library/item/may_2026/4339664/
