Volunteers of America encourages all of our online friends to comment and "post" on our page. We strive to manage a positive online space where our constituents can feel free to express themselves. We understand that so

me conversations around articles, blog posts, events, videos, organizational initiatives and other content on this page or linked to this page can create strong opinions which can lead to debates and passionate responses. For that reason, when comments or posts descend into derogatory remarks, personal attacks, inappropriate content or confusing streams of irrelevant content, we reserve the right to remove comments on our pages and potentially move the conversations offline (either onto email or discussions via phone). We want to see your comments and posts that:

• Are "on topic" and that respond to the content in our posts
• Are responses to comments left by other readers
• Are reasonably brief and to the point
• Have a positive/constructive tone
• Are open to being contradicted by other readers
• Might disagree with the content in the article or post, but never insult the writer of the article or blog post, or other commenters; we’re all “friends,” after all

We would rather not see comments and posts that:

• Are not "on topic" or are not responding to other comments or the content in the article or blog post
• Are excessively longwinded or negative
• Are insulting to the writer, the organization or previous commenters

We will immediately delete, without notice, comments and posts, that:

• Are unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, or contain racially, ethnically or similarly objectionable content
• Are personal attacks, including name-calling or celebrations of another person's misfortune
• Are injurious to the reputations or privacy of Volunteers of America staff, volunteers and clients
• Are false statements or unrelated to Volunteers of America programs and ministry
• Contain advertising or spam
• Are incomprehensible or do not contribute to reasonable dialogue
• Are disruptive, including personal conversations better suited for private messaging
• Violate any of Facebook's Terms of Use and Code of Conduct

Constant or extreme violations of Volunteers of America’s Facebook community rules will cause a commenter to be "defriended," blocking them from making future posts or comments on the page. In cases of extreme abuse, Volunteers of America will report violations to Facebook and permanently ban offenders from the page. Thanks for being our friend!

Relief. Gratitude. The feeling that maybe everything will be okay. For families already juggling groceries, transportation and everyday bills, relief is a feeling you give them with your kindness. Because when it’s back-to-school season, a backpack isn't just a backpack. It's one less tradeoff between what a child needs and what a family can afford.

This week marks an important moment in our story. We are officially moving forward as VOA.

For 130 years, we have worked alongside individuals, families, and communities by responding to urgent needs, creating opportunity, and helping people thrive. This next chapter honors that legacy while giving us a clearer, stronger platform for the future. Same commitment under one unified identity. We’re proud to welcome you to VOA.

Ericka Fusilier, National EVP of External Affairs, helps us usher in this new chapter.

On National Senior Citizens Day, VOA highlights the stories of the 300,000 older adults we serve every year.

Meet Pamela, a resident at VOA Michigan's Delta River Senior Village, who escaped 25 years of domestic violence at the age of 68. She discovered VOA Michigan’s senior community, which became a safe space to heal from her trauma and develop strong bonds. Now, a few years later, Pamela is finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. The new life she has built is full of love, laughter, and following her dreams. Even more telling, Pamela’s sister was inspired to follow in her big sister’s footsteps and escape a similarly abusive situation and begin again. For older adults like Pamela, VOA’s senior services have provided a place to land and heal.

Your will may not look like a love letter, but it can become one of the most lasting ways to show you care. Right now, during National Make-A-Will-Month, take about 20 minutes to create or update your will with our partner FreeWill. It's a simple way to care for the people you love while helping neighbors find hope through VOA.

This year, we are celebrating VOA’s 130 years of resilience by highlighting impactful projects conducted by our teams in service of their communities. This spring, VOA Northern Rockies staff, clients, and families joined the Sheridan, Wyoming, community for its annual Clean Up Day. They teamed up to collect over 700 pounds of trash!
