Girls from Navotas are leading climate action 🌏✨

Since 2022, these young girls have been helping their community become more ready for climate change and disasters. They work with local leaders to plan and carry out activities that make a real difference where they live.

This Earth Day, we celebrate young women leading change and building safer, stronger communities 💙

The Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance (ZCRA) works with communities to influence policies and practices which enhance resilience to climate hazards. Under ZCRA, the Climate Resilience Project (CRP) supports communities in strengthening local disaster risk reduction while ensuring the inclusion of youth, women, and vulnerable groups.

In the Philippines, it is implemented by Plan International Pilipinas, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the Philippine Red Cross.

At 21, Norhanie is already a VAWC Desk Officer, helping women find the courage to speak up and be heard.

She knows what it’s like to feel alone. After experiencing loss and pain in her marriage, she chose to turn that experience into something powerful — by becoming someone other women can run to, not away from.

Today, her work is shaped by both training and lived experience. She listens. She guides. She stands beside women in her community, making sure no one has to go through hardships alone.

Through the BABAE Project, women like Norhanie are strengthening community responses to violence, where care begins at home, and change starts with the courage to speak and to listen.

Norhanie and young women like her help ensure that the next generation grows up in safety, as women create and hold spaces for one another.

More than being a climate issue, extreme heat also poses risks to girls and children's healthy, safety, and education.

At the first-ever Urban Heat and Drought Summit in the Philippines — led by the Quezon City Government — cities and partners came together to share solutions and strengthen collective action in response to the intensifying heat.

As an organization that champions girls' and children's rights, we continue to push for solutions that keep them safe, especially as the climate risks grow.

For girls in crises, that the world keeps forgetting.
For girls facing online abuse with no protection.
For girls who can't access online health information in isolated communities.

Theresa carried their stories to the United Nations Commission on Population and Development, and made sure they were heard.

These are everyday realities. Many girls in the Philippines still don’t have access to sexual and reproductive health and rights information, aren’t safe in digital spaces, and are left out of the very technologies meant to support them.

At a time when rights are being rolled back, protecting girls online and offline cannot be optional.

As Plan International Pilipinas joins the Commission for the first time, we will continue to , and won’t stop showing up until talk turns into action.

Youth voices at the global table!

We are proud to share that our youth leader is at the 59th session of the United Nations Commission on Population and Development, happening this 13-17 April 2026 in New York City.

Sexual and reproductive health and rights are central to social justice – and so is making sure that technology and research work for every girl, not just those with stable power and internet.

As world leaders discuss population, technology, and research for sustainable development, youth perspectives will help shape conversations that impact our present and our future.

From Occidental Mindoro to the UN, Theresa carries the stories of Filipino girls into one of the most powerful rooms in the world.

The BABAE Project Outcome 2 is prioritizing gaps in water and electrical connectivity, and shared health facility management across BARMM. 💧🏥

From March 30 to 31, 2026, technical consultations were conducted at Alnor Hotel in Cotabato City and the MOH-BARMM Office. During these sessions, final assessment results for eight target Rural Health Units were validated, guiding priority repairs and refurbishments within available resources and in line with license-to-operate (LTO) and PhilHealth standards.

For health workers on the ground, these changes are both practical and urgent.

“Kung ano mang tulong ang mayroon ang BABAE Project, i-grab namin dahil malaking tulong ito sa aming RHU,” shared Faiqha Jaffna E. Usman, MD, CFP from Nabalawag Municipal Health Office.

To navigate evolving global procurement challenges, the Technical Working Group and Municipal Health Offices are also working closely with Local Government Units to resolve utility issues and ensure health facilities have long-term local support.

Findings were presented to MOH-DCPU and partners including Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), International Organization for Migration (IOM), Community and Family Services International (CFSI), and Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), reinforcing a coordinated approach to deliver responsive and sustainable health services across BARMM.

BABAE stays committed to its mission, laying the groundwork today to build stronger, more resilient health systems for the future of Bangsamoro women. 💜🤱🏻

Strengthening local systems begins with shared commitment. 💜

From March 10 to 12, 2026, members of the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System gathered at Microtel Hotel in General Santos City to establish the Technical Working Group (TWG) for the BABAE Project.

Representatives came together to review the project, refine the TWG Terms of Reference, and align on their roles in moving the work forward. The activity became a space of commitment, with participants stepping forward to take on roles within the TWG and actively support key deliverables.

Central to these efforts is the establishment of the Municipal/Local Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking (MIACAT/LCAT) through an Executive Order, reinforcing local mechanisms that protect and support vulnerable sectors.

When BABAE leads, stronger systems are built together. 💪🫂
