Post-election armed conflict in Nabalawag, Special Geographic Area (SGA), BARMM, has forced families to leave their homes.

For these families, being away from home means adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings while continuing to care for children, parents, and other family members.

While active fighting has stopped for now, the situation remains uncertain. Many families still do not know when it will be safe to return home.

Through the EU-funded Project, Plan International Pilipinas, together with CARE Philippines and ACCORD Inc. of the ACCESS Consortium, provided essential supplies to 397 displaced families across communities in Nabalawag.

🛏️ Sleeping Kits for more adequate sleeping conditions.

Psychological First Aid (PFA) activities also reached displaced people in Olandang and Kadingilan, providing support alongside assistance for their immediate needs.

As families adjust to life away from their respective homes, the response helps address some of the everyday needs that matter most.

Today, our youth leaders are hearing from fellow young innovators, sharing ideas, and imagining the kind of future they want to see — from safer and more equal communities, to more space for young people to speak up, lead, and pursue their dreams.

They’ll also bring their ideas and recommendations to ADB leaders through today’s roundtable discussions.

The Asia and the Pacific Youth Symposium 2026, co-organized by Plan International and Asian Development Bank, officially opens today, bringing together youth leaders and development partners from across the region to advance Youth Engagement in Water and Urban Development Projects supported by ADB.

The opening session showcases how young people are helping build climate-resilient and water-secure communities. We are proud that Klaire Monique Cadayong from Tacloban is representing youth partner from the Eco Tayo Project, sharing her experiences and insights on youth leadership and community action and emphasize to institutionalize meaningful youth participation in decision-making processes and allow youth involvement in the overall project cycle.

The session also featured remarks from Jessilou Morigo-Tanguilan, Program Portfolio Manager on Resilience and Humanitarian at Plan International Pilipinas, who encouraged youth with their tech-savvy skills to lead innovative campaigns on water resilience, sanitation, and environmental protection.

Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow. They are leading change today.

As conversations continue around children’s access to social media, one thing is clear: keeping children safe online takes more than restrictions.

They also need guidance, open conversations, digital skills, and trusted adults who can help them make safer choices online.

Through Connect2Protect’s youth-led Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) initiative, young people from Manila City, Dasmariñas City, and Llorente helped develop these practical reminders for parents and caregivers.

Connect2Protect (Uniting Against Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children: Multistakeholder Collaborations for a Safer Digital Space) aims to protect 1,000 children in all their diversities from online sexual exploitation. It's a 3-year initiative being implemented by Plan International Pilipinas with the support of Norway through The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Manila.
