Yet every year, communities across the Philippines find themselves doing exactly that, navigating earthquakes, floods, typhoons, droughts, and everything in between. And while everyone is affected, not everyone starts from the same place or has the same chance to recover.

This World Humanitarian Day, we recognize the humanitarian workers who keep showing up to , especially for those facing the greatest risks.

Plan International Pilipinas Statement on the School Shooting Incident in Zamboanga City

Plan International Pilipinas is deeply saddened by the tragic shooting incident at Ateneo de Zamboanga University, which claimed the lives of two students, left at least three others injured, and affected the entire school community.

Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, classmates, teachers, the entire school community, and all those impacted by this heartbreaking incident.

Violence has no place in our society. Schools must always be safe spaces where children can learn, grow, and realize their full potential.

We call for continued support for the affected learners, families, and school personnel, including access to psychological first aid and mental health services. Mental health ought to be openly discussed among schools, homes, and communities.

As authorities continue their investigation, we call for strengthened efforts to prevent violence against children and ensure that schools remain safe spaces where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.

Plan International Pilipinas is in solidarity with the people of Zamboanga City and remains committed to working with government, schools, and communities to help create safer environments where all children and young people can live free from fear.

Every day, millions of young people navigate the digital world, but they shouldn't have to do that alone.

This International Youth Day, we stood alongside TikTok, advocates, experts, creators, and parents for the Troop Townhall, with a clear message from young voices: "Hear us out, learn with us, and guide us without judgment."

To help address this, the event also launched the Family Guide, a tool designed to make difficult family conversations around screen time, boundaries, and online wellbeing easier, warmer, and more supportive.

Young people don't just need rules. They need adults willing to listen, learn, and walk beside them. 💙

As children and young people spend more time online, guidance at home matters more than ever. Knowing what your children are doing online, talking openly about risks, and creating a safe space for questions can go a long way in protecting them from harm.

Digital safety starts with awareness, trust, and active parenting. When parents and caregivers are informed, children and young people are better equipped to navigate the online world safely and confidently.

Nearly two months after the 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Southern Mindanao, many women are still piecing their lives back together—restoring livelihoods, caring for their families, and finding the strength to move forward despite uncertainty.

To support affected communities, Plan International Pilipinas launched an emergency response in T'boli, South Cotabato through the Children in Crisis Fund (CICF). While In Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, the EU-funded Project also provided hygiene and water kits to vulnerable families, helping them meet their immediate needs and continue their recovery with dignity.

Among those rebuilding their lives are Angelie, 23, and Charise, 35, whose lives were altered by the earthquake. Yet despite everything they have endured, they continue to choose hope. As they rebuild their livelihoods and care for those who depend on them, their resilience shows that recovery is carried by the strength to keep moving forward.

When women are supported to recover, they can better help their families heal, strengthen their communities, and build a more resilient future for everyone.

Today, on World Day Against Trafficking-in-Persons, we are reminded that every child deserves a safe space to heal and thrive. 💙

In line with this global movement, the Casting a Wider Net Project, led by Plan International, has been actively upgrading and equipping local Women and Children Protection Units (WCPUs) and crisis centers in Eastern Visayas since June.

By creating child-friendly facilities and training partners in trauma-informed care, we are ensuring that young survivors of trafficking receive the holistic support, safety, and legal care they need to rebuild their lives.

Let us stand together to protect our children and end trafficking for good.
