🧩 What makes a space feel safe for young people?

💬 No mocking?
👂 No interrupting?
🤝 Respect for every voice?

Creating safe spaces is the first step to meaningful dialogue, but it doesn’t stop there.

🌍 Today, we are spotlighting the 10 Principles of Dialogue, a powerful tool to help young people connect, understand, and grow together.

Which one do you already practice? Which one challenges you?

✨ Remember: Safe dialogue starts with ground rules created with young people, not for them. Learn More- https://www.scout.org/news/how-introduce-principles-dialogue

When things feel overwhelming … what can you do to look after your wellbeing?

There’s no one right answer, but some ways help us feel better, while others can make things harder.

💙 Healthy wellbeing can look like talking to someone, moving your body, breathing, or expressing yourself.
🚨 Sometimes it can also look like pulling away, getting angry, or taking risks.

💬 We want to hear from you:

What helps you feel better when things get tough?

What does “harm” actually mean, and what should you do if something doesn’t feel right?

Harm is anything that negatively affects a person’s physical, emotional, or psychological well-being. In Scouting, everyone deserves to feel safe.

🚫 Feeling humiliated, uncomfortable, scared, or threatened is never okay.
💬 You have the right to speak up.
🛡️ Reporting is about safety, not getting someone in trouble.

If you feel unsafe, you can talk to a trusted Scout leader or your Safe From Harm Coordinator.

Let’s create a space where everyone feels respected and protected.

🌍 Safe from Harm Week 2026 | 11–17 May

Every adult, child, and young person in Scouting deserves to feel safe, heard, and supported. 💜

This Safe from Harm Week, the global Scouting Movement unites under the theme:

✨ “Safeguarding Culture in Scouting” ✨

Because safeguarding is not only about policies, it is about how we treat one another every day, in every interaction.

Throughout the week, we will:

✅ Help young people understand and report harm
✅ Promote wellbeing in everyday Scouting
✅ Create safe spaces for open and respectful dialogue
✅ Raise awareness about cyberbullying and digital risks

🏆 We are also launching the Safe from Harm Week Contest, an opportunity for Scouts worldwide to lead the way in creating safer environments.

Together, we can make safeguarding part of everything we do.

The Scout Association of Hong Kong will host the Asia-Pacific Workshop on Scouts for Social Development Goals (SDG): Empowering National Scout Organizations (NSO) through Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) on 5–8 September 2026 in Hong Kong.
