📢 Nanay and the Middle East Crisis: Understanding the Implications and Risks for Philippine Microfinance Institutions
Last March 23, 2026, RestartME, in partnership with the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI), hosted an industry briefing that tackled one of the most pressing economic concerns affecting Filipino households today — the impact of the US-Iran war on the Philippine economy and the microfinance sector.
The event was held in a hybrid format at the Pagtutulungan Learning Room of the ASA Philippines Foundation Office, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, with participants also joining online.
We were honored to have Dr. JC Punongbayan of the UP School of Economics walk us through the macro vulnerabilities, household coping mechanisms, and the critical role microfinance plays in building national resilience during times of global crisis.
