Union of Primary Cooperatives in Makati Empowers Members at 8th Regular General Assembly, Charts Vision for Research and Leadership
MAKATI CITY, PHILIPPINES — The Union of Primary Cooperatives in Makati (UPCM) successfully convened its 8th Regular General Assembly on June 27, 2026, at the Ascott Hotel, Makati City. Gathering cooperative leaders, advocates, and stakeholders, the event celebrated past milestones while establishing a strategic roadmap for the year ahead.
UPCM Chairperson Alex Casas spoked to the assembly by greeting the delegation and presenting the union’s milestone achievements for the year 2025. His report highlighted the organization’s robust growth, financial resilience, and continuous service to its primary cooperative members.
A key highlight of the event was the address by guest speaker Ms. Anastacia Hora, who championed the critical role of data-driven development within the sector. She strongly encouraged the union to deepen its support for the cooperative movement, placing a special emphasis on advancing research advocacy to influence policy and drive sustainable community programs.
Awards were also given to the primary cooperatives with highest remittances of their CETF Apex. New members for 2025 were also recognized and given certificates of membership.
Following the presentations of future plans and key activities for the remainder of 2026, the assembly moved to its crucial governance segment. To ensure democratic leadership and continuity, the union conducted official elections for key organizational positions.
The delegation successfully elected the following officers:
Four (4) members to the Board of Directors
Three (3) members to the Audit Committee
Three (3) members to the Election Committee
The newly laid-out 2026 agenda serves as a rallying cry, inspiring all members to remain active participants and driving forces in the modern cooperative movement.
