Yesterday, June 12, 2026, we paused to remember and honor the life, legacy, and invaluable contributions of Dr. Thelma E. Tupasi, a visionary leader, dedicated physician, and pioneering advocate in the fight against infectious diseases.

Dr. Tupasi devoted her life to advancing public health, improving access to quality healthcare, and championing the welfare of countless Filipinos. Through her unwavering commitment to excellence, compassion, and service, she helped shape programs and initiatives that transformed lives and strengthened health systems across the country and beyond.

Her work was not merely defined by scientific achievements and professional milestones, but by her deep concern for people, especially the underserved and vulnerable. She inspired generations of healthcare professionals, researchers, and public health advocates to pursue their work with integrity, courage, and purpose.

As we commemorate her death anniversary, we remember not only a remarkable physician and leader, but also a mentor, colleague, and friend whose wisdom and dedication continue to guide us. Her legacy lives on in the institutions she helped build, the lives she touched, and the many individuals who continue the mission she so passionately embraced.

Though she is no longer with us, her vision endures. Her life’s work remains a beacon of hope and a testament to what can be achieved through compassion, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to public service.

May we honor her memory by carrying forward the values she exemplified and by continuing the work of improving the health and well-being of all.

Forever remembered. Forever honored.

Yesterday, May 18, 2026, Tropical Disease Foundation, Inc. joins the 2026 Observance of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial with this year’s theme:

“Light the Legacy. Remember. Advance. Act. Keep the Light Alive.”

Through its Primary HIV Care Clinic, The Primary, in partnership with the City Government of Makati and Makati Health Department - Social Hygiene Clinic, we continue to strengthen a progressive and compassionate response to the HIV epidemic in the City of Makati.

Observed every third Sunday of May, the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is a solemn moment to remember the lives lost in the battle against AIDS, while honoring the resilience of communities affected by HIV.

Today, we also celebrate the game changers in this fight, the dedicated healthcare workers, passionate volunteers, advocates, community leaders, and partners who continue to keep the light alive through service, compassion, and unwavering commitment.

As we remember, we also move forward with purpose:
To advance HIV awareness.
To fight stigma and discrimination.
To ensure accessible, quality, and people-centered HIV care for all.

Together, we remember. Together, we act. Together, we keep the light alive. 🕯️❤️
