From Poland to the Philippines: PeerLINC collaborates with Polish TB health workers and Pampanga TB teams to faster ๐ต๐ฑ๐ค๐ต๐ญ
PeerLINC developed and hosted a clinical immersion program for a team of Polish TB health workers: Doctors Jakub Wyrwynski, Bogusz Aksak-Was, and Julia Jaszak, along with Mateusz Bruss. This program from March 9-13, 2026 gave them a closer look at how the BPaL/BPaLM regimen is put into practice in the Philippines, with San Fernando, Pampanga as the region in focus for this visit.
With support from the the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital and the Rhu San Luis Rural Health Unit 1 , the PeerLINC team of Dr. Eden Hisey, Dr. Irene Flores, and Donna Gaviola, plus the team from Poland, demonstrated how TB and DRTB care is put into practice.
Starting with a courtesy call with its Center Chief Dr. Monserrat S. Chichioco, JBLMGH showcased its Lingap Baga TB-DOTS clinic, and its Xpert MTB/RIF testing services that support the needs of the region. Dr. Emmanuel Palma of the San Luis RHU demonstrated community-level implementation starting from an area update, case discussions, RHU team interactions, and a sneak peek at a patient follow-up.
From these visits, PeerLINC led meaningful conversations and channeled discussion towards best practices from both countries, highlighting the proven impact of the BPaL/BPaLM regimen, with suggestions on how to better adapt the treatment for patients and communities.
By creating spaces for hands-on learning and collaboration, PeerLINC continues to turn innovative TB treatments into real-world progressโbringing us closer to ending TB faster. ๐
