Kia ora e te whānau,

We’re excited to share that the Wairau Hauora Hub will be moving to a new location, the former Library at 33 Arthur Street, from 19 June 2026.

Our doors will be open to welcome you into our new space from 24 June 2026 💛

Come on in, have a look around, and be greeted by our friendly kaimahi at reception. We’re looking forward to continuing to support our community in this new space.

Ngā mihi and see you soon 🤝

💚 Get to the bottom of it 💚

June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.

Our kaupapa is simple. We want to tautoko our whānau to recognise the signs, have open kōrero, and take action early. Because when we look after ourselves, we look after each other.

In Aotearoa, bowel cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death. Each year, over 3,300 people are diagnosed, and around 1,200 lives are lost.
But there is hope. 9 out of 10 cases can be successfully treated when found early.

If you are aged 58–74, you will receive a free home test kit every two years through the National Bowel Screening Programme.
This test is:
• Simple to use
• Done in the comfort of your own home
• Able to pick up changes early, even before you feel unwell

Early checking means: more options, better outcomes, and stronger, healthier whānau.

Timatanga o te haerenga – the beginning of the journey 💫

Over the past two days, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside an amazing group of learners as part of our Timatanga o te Haerenga (Learners Support Programme). Your commitment to the kaupapa, your openness to learning, and your support of one another has truly been inspiring.

A heartfelt thank you to VTNZ for coming along, your contribution helps strengthen the pathway for our learners as they take the next steps on their journey.

To all who attended, ngā mihi nui ki a koutou. This is just the beginning, we look forward to continuing this haerenga together 🚗✨

On International Nurses Day we take a moment to recognise our nurses and the breadth of pūkenga they bring into every space they work in. Clinical knowledge, lived experience, intuition, patience, cultural connection and unwavering care all woven together in service of whānau.
Your mahi is often quiet, always meaningful, and deeply felt by those you support. Thank you for walking alongside our whānau and helping to strengthen the hauora of our hapori, every day.
