Simple words from Mary, but so powerful! She sacrificed her own commitments to let her girls continue their schooling.

Before: “I would give up my own pad just to make sure my daughters could go to school…I stayed home during my periods, missing community meetings — even chamas* — because of shame.”

After learning about Days for Girls…“I am a step ahead. I no longer hide during my periods. I attend chamas without fear, I move freely in my community, and I work hard every day to save for my daughters.”

Now: Mary speaks to women throughout her village, educating them on the sustainability and health benefits of reusable pads.

Her Call: “Days for Girls: please keep doing this great work. We need more support, more kits, more hope.”

Bethlehem College-Solomons mission trip

A group of students, from Bethlehem College, Bethlehem, Tauranga travelled to the Solomon Islands and distributed 50 Days for Girls kits, lovingly made by DfG NZ.

Lindie led the health education at the school where the kits were given out, laying a foundation of knowledge that will empower the girls to reach their goals. The girls were so thankful. One young woman who received a kit last year shared how it helped her continue normal life with confidence — and now her friends are hoping for kits too after seeing the difference it made.

We were also able to bless the teachers with kits.

Empowering women and girls, supporting schools, and strengthening communities — this is what happens when we work together.
