🌱 WWOOF Opportunity – Off-Grid Farm in Gisborne 🌱

We have a long-time WWOOF NZ host in Gisborne looking for a few WWOOFers to join them during their busy season.

They’ve been hosting for around 10 years on their 11-hectare organic farm, offering a genuine WWOOF experience focused on learning, sharing skills, and living simply on the land. The property is off-grid, and the hosts farm for the love of the lifestyle rather than profit.

Right now there’s lots happening, including:
🌿 Timber milling
🌿 Indigenous tree planting
🌿 Building the foundations for a two-storey light earth house

There’s also time to enjoy the lifestyle that comes with staying here — including surfing and experiencing off-grid life in beautiful Gisborne.

⭐ With fantastic feedback reviews, previous WWOOFers say it all about the experience you can expect.

👉 Interested? Log in to the WWOOF NZ website and check out their profile to get in touch with Josh and Natacha at https://wwoof.nz/profile/?mid=130935

If you’re keen on hands-on learning, natural building, and sustainable living, this could be the perfect placement.

🎨🎶 Calling artists, musicians & creative souls!
Come share life with us , Alice and Peter, on our small organic & biodynamic farm just 35 minutes south of Dunedin, right by beautiful Lake Waihola.

We love fresh, delicious food – cooking, preserving, trying new dishes, and sharing meals together in our mostly vegetarian home. If you enjoy cooking or want to learn, even better!

🌱 What’s happening here:
• Permaculture fruit & veggie gardens
• Building, landscaping & painting projects
• Food preserving & homemade cider
• Wood chopping skills if you’re keen
• Lots of knowledge to share in organic growing

🚐 Bonus: we especially welcome those with their own camper van – we have a lovely spot surrounded by native trees to park up and enjoy nature.

🐑🐔🐶🐱 Friendly animals, music sessions (bring an instrument!), and plenty of creativity. Peter plays Celtic music and Alice has years of organic growing experience to share.

We appreciate independent helpers, averaging 4–6 hours a day with flexibility depending on weather.

⚠️ Spider-friendly household – not suitable if you’re afraid of them, as they’re part of our organic system.

Preference for stays of a week or more. No smoking inside, please.

If this sounds like something your interested in, message Alice and Peter— they’d love to connect and create together!

A message from John at Butterfly's Rest-
Thankful for wonderful Wwoofers!
So it is 3 years now since covid 19 and then long covid darkened my door. After I visited the long covid clinic and learned this was going to be a long haul I said to Denise "either we find a way to get help or I am selling the farm, it is just too heartbreaking to watch it revert to scrub and noxious weeds". We settled on wwoofers and what a fabulous journey it has been. Without your help and kindnesses I really would have given up by the winter of 23. As it turns out Wwoofers have saved my sanity and my farm (not completely sure about the sanity). Thank you all for your efforts, companionship, bright ideas, practical help, cultural exchange and fun. Thank you for helping me to manage this sh*tty condition and for treating me as a full person not just a bag of symptoms.
