Christmas and New Year at Parrs Park parkrun.

Maybe it's too early to be thinking about Christmas - but - Christmas Day and New Year's Day both fall on a Friday this year and we have the option of holding a special parkrun on one or both of these dates. We've decided not to do this - it would mean holding events on two days in a row (Friday and Saturday) and we don't think it's fair to ask our limited pool of volunteers to devote their time to help out on two consecutive days, particularly when many people will have so much on. Sorry!

However - we will be holding our regular Saturday parkruns at Parrs Park on 26th December and 2nd January so we'll hopefully see many of you then - and if you want to run a parkrun on Christmas Day or New Year's Day there will be a number of events on across Auckland. Check the website at https://www.parkrun.co.nz/special-events/ for details.

Here are the numbers for Event #49 on 3 October. Congratulations to our first finishers, Shaun & Adele, and to our milestone achievers, Karen, Jake, Jack, Richard & Mario.

Don't forget it's the Parrs Park first anniversary run on Saturday 24 October. Dress-up encouraged (but optional), The Athlete's Foot will be there, and we will have cake!

Parrs Park parkrun – our First Anniversary is coming!

Would you believe it’s been nearly a year since we started parkrun at Parrs Park? We’re going to recognise this achievement by celebrating our first anniversary at event #52 on Saturday 24 October. You might think it should be event #53 but we didn’t hold an event on Anzac Day so....

The Athlete’s Foot will be bringing their gazebo and will have sets of running shoes for people to try – first come, first served.

We’ll have cake for everyone (probably best to eat it afterwards rather than before).

If you want to dress up to help celebrate that would be great – since it’s the first anniversary a onesie costume might work well – or anything else you like. Tutus? Halloween?

And even if we’re stuffed full of cake we’ll still go to the Crafty Baker afterwards.

Does that sound like a good plan?
