Nurturing Families (Formally known as Mummy's In Need) is a not for profit charity that aims to nurture big and little lives through providing essentials to vulnerable families in our community. Nurturing Families works as a support agency for various other organisation's by providing them with items to pass on to their clients. If you are needing assistance please get in touch with your midwife or case worker and have them refer you.

Another familiar face in our Meet the Team series 🥰 Meet Danielle, our Referrals Manager!

Danielle works closely with our amazing caseworkers to understand what each family needs, making sure every order is customised and thoughtfully put together. She also coordinates caseworker collections, helping make sure everything gets where it needs to go!

There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes before a box leaves our warehouse - and Danielle is a very important part of it!

Our amazing caseworkers are the connection between Nurturing Families and the families who need our support.

We work alongside over 700 caseworkers across our community, and we appreciate every single one of them. They’re the ones who know and walk alongside the families, understand what they need, and make sure our support gets into the right hands.

We love the quick chats at the warehouse door, hearing feedback from families, and knowing that the crisis packs we put together are making a difference when they’re needed most.

And of course, we love a good boot photo! There’s something pretty special about seeing the boot packed up and ready to head off to a family, filled with everything our team has put together for them.

To all of our incredible caseworkers, thank you for the work you do, for trusting us to support the families you work alongside, and for being such an important part of what we do. We couldn’t do it without you! ❤️

Hey everyone! I think I’ve delayed my temporary goodbye for long enough now 😂❤️ Baby girl is due any moment and, to be fair, I haven’t even been at work for a little while!

I’m so excited to have this time to fully soak up all the newborn snuggles, and I’m extremely thankful to my whole team for making it possible for me to properly step back for a little while. Especially Marissa, who has been part of just about every decision for the last three years — I know she and the team have absolutely got this.

And thank you to this whole community — all of our funders, donors, supporters, volunteers and friends. You guys make Nurturing Families what it is, and I’ll always be incredibly thankful for that.

I’ll see you all really soon… with a brand-new little member of our village in tow 🥹🎀🤍

A big thank you to for recently hosting a Pop Up Baby First Aid session in support of Nurturing Families! ❤️

These sessions give parents and caregivers valuable, practical baby and child first aid knowledge, and we were so grateful to have a portion of the proceeds donated to Nurturing Families.

We love seeing businesses find meaningful ways to use what they do to give back to their community. Thank you, &Breathe, for choosing to support our work and helping us be there for families when they need it most. 🫶

This order is heading to a young first-time mum who is getting ready to welcome her baby next month.

At just 20 years old, she is preparing to become a mum with limited family support. Her older sister has been her main source of support, and together they have been doing everything they can to gather the essentials they need before baby arrives.

There were still a few things missing, so this referral has been packed with some of those extra essentials to help them feel a little more prepared. With baby’s gender being a surprise, we’ve kept everything neutral, including newborn and 0–3 month clothing, blankets, sleep sacks, dummies, play mat with toys, breastfeeding supplies, maternity items and toiletries for mum. We’ve also been able to provide a capsule and pram set, helping to take care of some of the bigger essentials she needs.

For us, it’s about more than simply filling a box. It’s about making sure a young mum has some of the practical things she needs as she steps into this new chapter, and reminding her that there is a community behind her.

We’re so grateful to everyone who helps make referrals like this possible. Every donation helps us provide families with the things they need to feel a little more prepared for what comes next.

No two days look the same around here, and that’s especially true for our Operations Coordinator, the queen of jumping in wherever she’s needed. Whether she’s recruiting and supporting our amazing volunteers, helping pack and prepare referrals, or tackling the million little jobs that keep Nurturing Families running, she’s always on the go and bringing the vibes!

One more member of our Nurturing Families team you now know a little better ☺️

Over the years, you’ve helped us provide thousands of gorgeous, brand new clothing items to children in need through our Crisis Support Packs.

Every piece is selected and packed with care, and it’s a real privilege to be able to give families something that’s not only practical, but also beautiful, and the highest quality.

Thank you for helping us make a difficult time feel just a little bit brighter 🫶

Last week, one of our team was packing a referral when they came across a special request.

The referral was for a young boy with autism, and his caseworker had asked if we could include a pair of noise-cancelling headphones to help him manage the overwhelming sounds of being out in public.

So we reached out to our community.

Less than 24 hours later, Kalinda arrived at our door with a brand new pair she'd gone out and purchased especially for him.

It's moments like these that remind us of the incredible kindness that exists all around us.

We'll never fully know the challenges each family is facing because we're not walking in their shoes. But together, we can remind them that they're not facing those challenges alone. There is a community standing beside them, ready to help in whatever way they can.

To Kalinda, thank you for your incredible generosity. And to everyone who continues to support Nurturing Families, thank you for helping us nurture families when they need it most. ❤️
